Eric finally having sex with Ginger was the best scene of the episode for me.

I think everyone just wants this to end. There was never a doubt in my mind that Bill and Sookie would end up together.

Well, so much for the assumed spoiler that Bill and Sookie end up together. I believed it so completely, I even scrolled through the credits looking for the reveal that Bill was alive all along. They got me good... I'll admit it.

I think the ontd theory is true that they went and did reshoots. Because of all of his human flashbacks, Sookie being able to hear his thoughts, his being warm and him feeling human. I think the producers saw the annoyance from the fans and changed it because almost everyone is haply Bill died.

Sounds plausible. I bet Bill was supposed to be her husband at the dinner table, hence only seeing him from the back. Surprise! She & Bill lived happily ever after with babies! Blech!

I wouldn't have been crazy about a Bill and Sookie ending, but the way they handled it felt like we had the rug pulled out from under us. The set up all season seemed to be "Sookie's magical fairy love + HepV turns Bill human again!" But then oops, don't want to waste my fairy light on you so I'm just going to stake you. All that build up for nothing.
Did Lafayette say one word in the finale? A single word?

I was disappointed with the woeful lack of Lafayette, too! No way should we have had more screen time from Sarah Newlin than Lafayette in the last season.
So, I didn't watch the finale until tonight, and maybe it's my lowered expectations speaking here, but I actually thought it was pretty good! I was sooo afraid the spoiler about Bill turning human was true. I thought the scene where Sookie killed him was some of the best acting Anna Paquin has done on the show. She usually overdoes it with the crying, but she was nicely restrained and it was heartbreaking to see her sitting in Bill's blood and closing the coffin. And I was pleasantly surprised at how things turned out for her. I loved that they didn't show her new guy's face (but... WHY couldn't they have just kept Alcide alive and waited til the end to pair up him and Sookie?! From the back/side, her new beau looked like Alcide Lite).
So, I thought there were some good bits: how they handled Bill's death, Sookie moving on, Jessica/Hoyt, but also some bad: almost no Lafayette, kind of a cheesy ending for Jason with all those damned kids in just a few years' time (yeah, he'll be cheating soon if he isn't already) and a disappointing ending for Eric/Pam. Eric and Pam especially REALLY deserved better!
All in all, it was a disappointing final season. I feel like they wasted a LOT of potential. But, hurray for Sookie not ending up with Bill!
RIP True Blood. You had some good years!

I thought the first few seasons were good, I actually liked Sookie and Bill together then. I used to think Bill was a cute guy.

Someone on Io9, who is much funnier and more imaginative that I could ever be, said that the series should have ended with Sookie looking up from the Thanksgiving dinner table and seeing this.
