Ok... you guys have done it to me, again. I just went on a Janet Jackson YouTube binge. Back in the day, when we had to pick songs for our dance classes, Janet was always our go-to choice. "Pleasure Principle" and the chair y'all! What stands out to me about her success is that she did it in despite of, and not because of her connection to a megastar sibling. It is amazing that she had the success she did AND carved out an identity for herself that was completely dissociated from MJ or the Jacksons more generally.

I'm a big fan of her, too, but I honestly don't think Nipplegate is solely to blame for the state of her career. I think it's part of it, but she also hasn't evolved enough as a performer over the years to keep people interested. When you see performances from her in later years, they look almost identical. Even Britney's aren't as predictable. Like an earlier poster, I saw the "Janet" tour and it was amazing. It was pre-LED and it's still one of the best shows I've ever seen. |

Kind of O/T, but what is the deal with Janet Jackson's legs? I have NEVER seen them unless I'm completely missing something. She rarely shows them if ever. Is satan's finger growing out of one of them or something?

I suspect that she tends to prefer pants, but she has performed in legless body suits and posed in swimsuits before. She has mentioned that she plans to dress more moderately now, as she converted since marrying her husband, who is also Muslim. |
