49? that's not good, maybe Baby Girl Debarge is having a grandbaby. LOL. I've seen some people speculate that. I'm guessing she used donor eggs, which helps lower the risks somewhat. Best of luck to her. Some people have speculated that she may have used her own eggs that she had frozen a few years ago.

I confess, I've always kinda been a fan of Janet's music, so I was interested to read the pregnancy news. Hope it works out and can't wait to read the name in a few months.

Even if there were a secret baby, why is James De Barge coming out of the woodwork with this now?
I guess when they split, she didn't hit him with whatever kind of agreement she had with Rene Elizondo. He's becoming a loose cannon.

I need Dateline mysteries to investigate! I clicked on this thinking it would be sort of juicy. It sounds SOOO shifty. The alleged daughter contacted him through email and he hasn't met her yet?! But he's pretty sure it kinda might be the secret daughter he had with Janet. It's weird to me because the rumor has always been that we know who the daughter is.

I confess, I've always kinda been a fan of Janet's music, so I was interested to read the pregnancy news. Hope it works out and can't wait to read the name in a few months. My 6th - 9th grade self will always love her music. No matter what kind of crappy or heartbreaking day I'm having, her song "Escapade" will make me smile and dance around in the house or the car in a state of psychotic, nostalgic glee. Same with "Love Will Never Do (Without You"). Aw, hell, I'll just say the entire albums of "Control" and "Rhythm Nation: 1814" have that effect on me. Side note: A few days ago, I wasted a good two hours on Spotify being led down a trail of deliciously bad 80s roller-skating rink pop that started with Janet: Belinda Carlisle, Debbie, Tiffany, Martika, Sam Fox, NKOTB, etc. I had literally not heard Samantha Fox's "Naughty Girls (Need Love Too)" since 1987, but my brain remembered it all. Do I even want to know what brain space is being wasted by storing such awful data? (And by awful, I mean wonderful.) My husband was in hysterics because he has only known me as "Sassy" magazine reading, alt-music chick. Back off, hubs--you'll just never understand!

Janet and husband Wissam Al Mana have separated. That seemed to come out of nowhere, especially since she recently gave birth to their son. However, there is all this speculation as to what happened, which is odd since Janet is notoriously very private.

I didn't really think this split came out of nowhere. When Janet got together with this guy, she made major, major changes to her life in order to adapt to him. She moved to another continent, she started to wear hijab, she modified her concerts to eliminate costumes/dancing/lyrics that would conflict with Islam.
Those sorts of changes are the type that people make in the first flush of infatuation, but are very difficult to sustain in the long term. There is a big cultural divide to bridge there.
Cynical folk think Janet put in 5 years to get a nice chunk of his money and a baby right before her child-bearing years are over. IIRC, Janet's done some sketchy things involving money before, so she's not necessarily above that type of gold digging. However, I am giving her the benefit of the doubt that it was real.
The husband seems to be cool about the whole thing. The press is trying to make it into a battle, but it seems amicable to me. I read she's going to stay in London and they are going to share custody.

I wouldn't be surprised if she panicked after Michael died and married the first billionaire that would have her. I always thought she had her own money but no one in that family seems to have a basic understanding of finance. Or maybe she has some saved but realized she was next in line as family financer and panicked thinking she doesn't have enough for all of them. None of them seem interested in day jobs and coupon clipping.
And it does explain having a baby at 50. 18 years, she got him for 18 years....
