I know but at some point you are just badgering OS who doesn't agree with you. Let it go.
I agree. I think that being provocative means that some people are going to misinterpret you. And I think that is the risk of having something provocative on television. I really think that Dave Chappelle was a brilliant absurdist commentator and really funny in general in a scatological sense.

snacktastic I don't mean to be assumptive but you seem to be agreeing with me rather than with OS.
As was my point from the beginning people who are just bigots and racist misinterpret and misquote Chappelle to reinforce and justify their beliefs and amateurly and pathetically disguise it as "humor" or "jest". Because 'hey, it was on the Chappelle show right!?!' So whatever primitive racist beliefs they were quietly clingly to they think can express now and get approval, applause and a f**king standing ovation for. The black guy on the TV just gave them permission! (Or so they think with they're retarded rednecked, Kentucky fried lack of a brain)
OS is saying that Chappelle show inspires hate crimes and outright murder! Sorry but I think the big issue is a lot more subtle - and by it's nature more pervasive and corrosive - than psychotic murderers going on a hate spree. It's an everyday "petty" crime that every other Joe Blogs commits and that what makes it so damaging to ALL of society and so supremely heinous.
And that said Chappelle show is not repsonsible for that type of "harmless" and casually executed racism. It merely highlights it. But unfortunately there are the seriously and terminally stupid who actually can not see what is obvious to everyone else watching. That THEY - the racists! - are the butt of the joke.
So they laugh along in happy and contented ignorance. And continue with the type of behaviour that fuels Dave's satires.

I do agree with you, but I am saying that to continue to question OS's post is problematic and you can make your point without saying, repeatedly, that his/her post made no sense.

Take it from and take it up with the moderator. They took up the budding issue.
I don't even expect OS to return here.
But at least it's been made obvious that his/her post was misplaced.

Forgive me. I thought we were on topic - how Dave (allegedly or supposedly) has had this break because he can't believe in what he's doing anymore due to misinterpretation from the public who bought his DVDs and watched his TV skits and started going to his live shows after the success of the TV series. And (again, allegedly and supposedly) it seems to be due to bigotry and racist ignorance.
I thought that was the topic of discussion. If there is another at the moment please feel free to correct me and steer me to the right path or true thread of the discusion that has emerged from a couple of pages ago.

The bottom line is Chappelle's show has always been controversial. Whether DC or his show is racist or not has nothing to do with the fact that the show isn't coming on. Hopefully, all of us on this thread has seen the show. While not every skit is exceptionally funny, most of it is and has some truth to it. Like it or leave it.

It think the accusation was that the some of AUDIENCE that received the show may have been blinded by inherent racism and took it in a way that the author did not intend, expect or suspect. Rather than just simply that the show was racist.
Though Dave really shoud've watched Bamboozled and maybe he wouldn't have been so surprised and bamboozled by what turned out to be his audience and their real expectations of his new millinieum Minstel show. Huh? I know it was a sarcastic send up. But how many others out of the whole spectrum of people who saw the show know which way up or what it is really saying?
This recent crisis really makes me wonder.

It think the accusation was that the some of AUDIENCE that received the show may have been blinded by inherent racism and took it in a way that the author did not intend, expect or suspect. Rather than just simply that the show was racist. That's what I said in an earlier post. That the audience may be taking Dave's comedy the wrong way. All of a sudden the thread took on a racism theme. I was trying to get back on track. The bottom line remains the show isn't going on. I don't want to post about racism; I'll save that for another board. I want to post about Dave Chappelle and his show. Edited because Topher is more clever than me.
