Both the show and Cat Deeley got Emmy noms. Too bad this season is a dud. Hopefully having the all-stars back next week will improve things. Also improving things would be finally getting rid of Ryan tonight. And Jess too. Sadly I think Jess and his stupid open mouthed grin are in it for awhile.

Am I the only one who everytime I see Jordan dancing counts the leg extensions? It's like "great you're flexible....do something else".

I kept counting during her routine with the all-star: spit, high kick, split again but to the side, lean forward and bring leg up to vertical, split jump. It's all she's got going on. And I can't help but notice that she looks like a Filipino drag queen who lives in my neighborhood.

Her HMVs (Here's My Vagina!) have me bored to tears... I suggested to my husband that we turn it into a drinking game - everytime she kicks up like that, we are supposed to drink. It was 5 HMV in 20 seconds in last night's "dance for her life"... dangerous for the liver, that one.

So Gaga performed yesterday on SYTYCD, and I did see my favorite SYTYCD vet Mark Kanamura prancing around behind her. You think they'd mention it on the show that mark was one of her regular dancers, seeing as how it just is more publicity for SYTYCD. But I guess they were running out of time or something.

Thank God they finally got rid of Jordan. I really don't like that the judges are still making the final decision on who gets cut. In the past once it got to the final 10 whoever got booted was based entirely on viewer votes. I know it was slightly different last year but that was because there were only 10 dancers to start. What is the point of voting if the judges are just going to pick who they want in the finals anyway? The only possible way that it won't be a Melanie, Sasha, Tadd, Marko final is if somehow miraculously Caitlin and Ricky are the top vote-getters. I kind of want that to happen just to mess up the judges perfect finale even though I'm not a big fan of either of them.

I think it was the one year that Russell won the finale, probably because he had the popular vote more than his ability or range.
IMO the judges pay lip service to hip hop and crumping as an art, and because they bring in the viewers. But deep down they really truly don't consider those forms of dance as important as contemporary or ballroom or the other types that take years to perfect. Maybe since the show seems to be more about pure dance and less about celebrities or popularity, they wanted to make sure the winner was someone they considered to be truly a dance professional. If they could go back and choose we they felt should have won, I wonder if they would have changed the outcome.

In both of Jordan's performances on Wednesday night I again played "Count the Leg Extenstions". She and Jess had absolutely no chemistry. I keep forgetting Tadd--I find Ricky much more memorable then him. With that height he has--his dancing can look incredible. The very first contemporary dance he did with Melanie, Sasha, and some other girl he really caught my eye. While Caitlin doesn't bother me, I like Melanie and Sasha a lot, so I'd be fine with either of them winning. Again, this is my first year watching, so do they change how it works every year?

Usually it's judges choice of the bottom three girls and bottom three boys, the bottom three of each being chosen by low voting week to week. Then at the midway mark (when they are down to five girls and five boys) the judges can do no more than try to sway the viewers by putting down one dancer or another; the elimination is based completely on lowest votes. Once they get down to the final four, I think even the boy/girl ratio goes away.
This year, the judges are having final say all the way through what we've seen so far, and they are down to the final 6. I don't know whether this will continue, or whether they will stop having any say nearer the end.
