Taking out the obvious creepiness of any grown-ass man creeping on a 17-year-old, what is wrong with these celebrities who think that somehow this wouldn't get out? He doesn't even have plausible deniability because he gave her proof in the texts it was him in the form of photos. Reason 7468480 that I hate when celebrities are active on social media. It never turns out well. This is why I love that they're on social media, tbh. The majority of them always show their ass. |

Are we sure this isn't a publicity stunt? I think James Franco is an epic douchebag, but I also think he has enough brains to be more careful with how he picks up on women. His next movie coming out is Palo Alto, supposedly it's about a teacher (played by him# who has an affair with a student. Also, who picks up people through Instagram? I had no idea that was even a thing. YES! I follow some athletes on IG, and it's always interesting to be able to see which pictures they've "liked," you kind of judge them differently after that. And with IG allowing users to direct message each other now, I'd assume picking up on your followers is happening a lot more often now. |

Picking up groupies via social media is huge with athletes, and other stars, too. Follow each other, send sexy pics and iron out the meetup details to your heart's content. It's really funny when a star means to send a flirty direct message but ends up making it a tweet to everyone by mistake, and the fangirl freakouts ensue! Not really surprising that Franco is involved in a situation that seems sleazy. |

It is sleazy of him. However, when I was 17, if an actor I considered hot had tried to pick me up for one-nighter, I would have probably gone for it and treasured it as a fond memory into my old age.
