She is a smart girl. She figured out pretty quickly that James Franco's shady ass wasn't worth it AND she got proof that he wanted her and she turned him down.

I got a bad vibe from him when he referred to Kristen Stewart in On The Road and stated excitedly "and there's nudity I hear." It sounded vaguely lecherous. Now there's nothing vague about it. He's officially gross.

He was on Kelly and Michael this morning and made a totally ambiguous statement about the whole thing, saying social media is "tricky" (what part about the girl TELLING YOU that she was not yet 18 was tricky?!), that he feels "awkward" and "embarrassed." Basically he feels bad that he was caught.

This is what I don't get. The person on the other end was exactly who he thought she was... so what's his point? He's trying to make this into something that SHE did wrong?! She didn't present herself as anyone or anything other than she is. He's a dick. And also, if his game is that lazy/bad, it's no wonder he has to resort to trying to pick up teenagers on Instagram. He came across as a major desperate creep, even if the girl had been age-appropriate!

I have to stop reading comments about this on the web and on Facebook because they're making my blood boil. So many idiots are insisting it's a publicity stunt, or saying that the girl is stupid because she would be lucky to sleep with Franco, or that she's a tease/ various other attacks on her character and personal choices.

Well, crap. This is annoying, gross and improper. I'm mad because I actually like him- a lot. I know folks think he is a douche, but I always liked him and even followed him on FB and Twitter. He's so bad, my young, ultra-hipster cousin-in-law yelled at me for liking him a while back. Like, called me out and everything! And this (beloved, beyond precious to me) CIL stepped out of the Royal Tennenbaums or something.

I guess a douche really is a douche, and I need to adjust my douche-radar.

If it makes you feel better, narm, this is making me second-guess my love for Seth Rogen, since they are BFFs. I already thought Franco was a douche, but now that he's a confirmed sleaze it means I have to side-eye his friends as well if they tolerate it! Ugh!

ETA: but.... I will always love their "Bound 2" remake no matter what!

Shifting blame to others seems to be his modus operandi. He did with the Oscars. He did it with the NYU professor who failed him. He's doing this now to a 17 yo girl who he propositioned. He's a douche.

Okay, I'm less freaked out upon reading that 17 is the age of consent in New York--I was having visions of Chris Hansen and Pedobear at first. Now I'm more pissed off by his misleading, lame-ass statement.

I think I'd respect him more if he just said there was this totes pretty girl (younger than expected, but legal) who seemed into him, so he gave it a shot but in the end, she turned him down. More like the other thing he said:

'Unfortunately in my position, not only do I have to go through the embarrassing rituals of meeting someone, but if I do that, then it gets published for the world so it's doubly embarrassing,' he said.

What the girl wrote to her friend, though--

During a conversation with a friend posted on Instagram, Miss Clode said: 'James Franco asked me to meet him alone Romy! It was really him and I rejected him!! [what] am I doing?!'

She then added: 'I am going to regret this for years - it's given me a confidence boost though lol.'

--that is *so* how I would react and feel in the (extremely unlikely) event that a celebrity of a certain caliber hit on me.
