During one of my recent bouts of insomnia, I was flipping through the channels and stumbled across an airing of a ridiculously over the top southern gothic melodrama. I had no idea what it was, and immediately went to google. I found out that it was The Sound and the Fury, and not only that, Mr. Franco himself was in a remake with his buddies Seth Rogen and Danny McBride. I watched the trailer, waiting for the punchline, but it never came. I can't believe that it's not an elaborate prank. I know Franco fancied himself an auteur for a while, but come on, it's more like they remade Simple Jack. His mugging was just---I don't have the words. I know this is how the character was supposed to be in the book, but Jiminy Christmas! Who thought that would be a good idea?

I think so. I love Tim Blake Nelson as an actor, he can be great and even good in dramas--but something tells me that this might not be in his wheelhouse.

2 Women Say James Franco’s Acting School Sexually Exploited Them

The women came to the acting school with hopes of developing their skills, furthering their careers and working with its celebrity founder, James Franco, the film and television star.

Instead, these women say, Mr. Franco and his partners subjected them to sexually exploitative auditions and film shoots, all while promising them roles in movies that never materialized or were never released.

In a lawsuit filed on Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, two former students of an acting school that Mr. Franco helped create say that the now-defunct program was little more than a scheme to provide him and his male collaborators with a pool of young female performers that they could take advantage of.

I loved the first season of The Deuce, loved Maggie Gyllenhaal's character, I tried to watch season 2 last year, but stories were coming out about Franco then, and I just couldn't continue. I've never heard Maggie talk about this, has she?

She did address the issue on Fresh Air, and her comments were very unsatisfactory. She tried to say since they were so groundbreaking and had an intimacy coordinator and because she was a producer, no one ever need feel uncomfortable.

Why am I not even a little bit surprised? Franco always struck me as a major jerk.
