Pineapple Express is an upcoming 2008 action-comedy film starring Seth Rogen and James Franco and is about their adventures when a drug deal goes bad trying to deal a new strain of weed called Pineapple Express.

Franco, 30, recently was interviewed by NYTimes.com/TMagazine about Pineapple Express, his development as an actor, and who he looked up to as role models.

Seeing him around lately doing these promos and stuff piqued my interest so I just read his whole thread, which included a lot of "total douchebag-ass to work with-closet case".
Doesn't jive at all with the dude who just went back to school for English lit, and is moving to NYC to get his grad degree, plus the cool vibe I sense from these interviews. Maybe he's been kicked down a couple of pegs in recent years? Regardless, I think he's very, very talented--- someone I think we will see great work from in years to come. I would put him in the Sean Penn/Johnny Depp category.

I've commented on his gayness but don't really think he's a closet case. Just because publicists and infotainment cretins construct a hetero facade for him doesn't mean he actively participates in the deception, in fact, I think he doesn't participate in the deception at all.

And after seeing his terrific turn in Pineapple Express yesterday, my boyfriend and I agree with you, he's the Johnny Depp of his generation of actors.

Geez, it sounds like I'm about to give away a state secret. He's a good guy but young and a little cocky (and that leads to... cocky problems), has had a longish-term partner and retreated from the star-making machinery following Annapolis because he could see where it would lead: utter destruction of any private life.

I think James is attractive and very talented. Of course, I'm even more bias because of his English lit degree and the fact that he's continuing through grad school.
