It's back! I thought last night's was a good ep - Carline and Tyler are hawt, and bad Stephan is much more interesting to me. Rick and Damon need to rethink those hairstyles, though, yikes. Damon looks straight out of the 70s, and Rick looks like Stephen Baldwin, and I don't mean that as a compliment. Was anyone else surprised at the blatant underage drinking and drug use? I was shocked they were allowed to do that in a show geared to teens. Maybe I'm just getting old. I was surprised by the party scene, too. Keg stands and open pot smoking! Then I remembered that Jeremy was an open stoner when the series started, so I suppose it kind of makes sense. I thought last night's episode was good, what with the Ripper explanation, Andie's incident, and the big finale. I've been a fan of Susan Walters (Tyler's mom) since she was on the soap Loving, so after gasping, I totally cheered her on. It'll be interesting to see the vampire/werewolf families fight. I'm also intrigued by Klaus's plot to make more hybrids.

They post their shows on the CW website 3-4 days after airing, so if you can wait another couple of days, it should be available.

I did NOT see the Mrs. Lockwood/Caroline thing coming. Wow! I loved that there was a small (very small!) hint something was up when Caroline told Tyler that his mom had been looking at her funny, but it was so easy to dismiss as, "She thinks you're dating her son." Poor Caroline.
Ugh, yeah, Rick's hair was bad. I didn't notice Damon's because a) I'm usually too distracted by his really pretty/super crazy eyes, and b) because his hair usually looks terrible to me (see: the 1864 flashbacks for the most heinous examples). I think Ian Somerhalder just has weird hair in general.
Ripper (ugh, hate that name) Stefan is horrible. I was reading another board where people were going on and on how he's not enjoying it, how he's doing it just to protect Damon and Elena, but ... he's a fricking psycho. Literally ripping people apart ... ugh. And I get that he has to put on an act for Klaus, but what he did to Andie was sick, and for no one's benefit but his own — no one was there to see him toying with her and scaring the crap out of her. He didn't have to do those things to send Damon a message. I do think it's a nice callback to how he once told Elena he was worse than Damon. Yep. I'll agree with that, and I think Damon's a psycho most of the time.

What grossed me out is how Andie was being used to highlight Stefan's descent and Damon's manpain. Like am I supposed to feel sorry for Damon when he treated Andie as nothing more than a chewtoy to use and abuse? Poor Andie.
This premiere was decidedly meh compared to the awesomeness of last season's premiere, IMO, maybe because I thought Katherine had more of a presence than Klaus does right now. She just felt so much more menacing in comparison. Like the scene where she fiddled around with the knives RIGHT BEFORE CHOPPING OFF JOHN'S FINGERS.

Now THAT was a season premiere.
OK, raise your hand if you're sick of Caroline getting kidnapped/put in danger, because I sure am. I'm also sick of all the terrible, evil dads on this show (ex: Stefan and Damon's dad murdered his own children; John Gilbert was a total douche; Tyler's dad was a bastard, etc.).
I don't like Klaus as a villain. He's a loser who can't get anyone to want to be with him, so he has to blackmail them. I don't get why he wants his own pack of hybrids (what's the point?), he's whiny, and he has to make Stefan do most of his dirty work for him. Boring. At least Elijah seemed a little scary.

So.... which is the evil ghost? Anna or Vicki? I want the evil ghost to be Vicki because I don't like her anyway, but she seems like such an obvious choice that I'm convinced it's going to turn out that Anna is the malevolent one.
Also, Stefan is dumb. Heh. How easily did Bex get one over on him?
*raises hand*
But at least the writers sort of made up for it by having her be completely badass and kick Damon's ass in the most recent ep. I loved the exchange between her and Damon:
Damon: I'm stronger! Caroline: But I'm angrier!

Last night's episode was SO good! HBIC Katherine is back. Klaus kicked a ton of ass. Becca continues to be interesting. Caroline/Tyler continue to be adorable. Alaric got his groove back, even though it cost us the Damon/Alaric bromance which I love. I wonder if something is going to happen to him, especially after Damon said something of the ring taking longer to work. I'll be hella pissed if they kill him off. I'm sure that Anna is the bad ghost. I like the twist of that plot. Next week's episode looks good! I wonder if Matt is going to die. The spoilers made it sound like someone is. I love this show!

I think Anna will be the evil one, too, only because I hated Vicki and I really liked Anna, so I figure it'll be a switcheroo here — plus the writing thus far seems like classic misdirection. It'd be too easy if Anna were good and Vicki were bad.
I'm so glad Caroline got to kick ass, but I only wish it had been on her own behalf — i.e., Damon deserved that ass-kicking last season for the way he abused her, not for what he did to her douchebag (Damon got that one right) of a dad. And I also wish the writers hadn't given her dad that parting shot ("I don't think you'll ever be OK"). She should have ripped him a new one for that. I'm sorry, I love Caroline to death. Which is funny, because when I watched S1 (just this summer), I couldn't stand her. I agree that Caroline and Tyler are adorable, therefore I'm dreading the inevitable angst the writers will no doubt cook up for them soon.
I would not mind if Matt died. He gets on my nerves, big-time, and he treated Caroline like crap even before she became a vampire. He's boring and he bugs me.
God, I hope the writers aren't foreshadowing something happening to Alaric. I love him. I'm really sad to see (what appears to be) the end of the Damon/Ric bromance, but Ric was absolutely in the right to call Damon out for what he did.
However? I can't help it, Ian Somerhalder is just so fun to watch in this role that I can't help but love Damon's crazy ass. He's a total psycho but I love watching it. This show is too fun.
Can they please stop killing off witches, though? Can't ONE, besides Bonnie, survive? I get the impression that Gloria was eeeevil, but still. Since all the witches we've seen have been African-American, it also smacks of that old horror movie cliche that the black character always gets killed off.
