I hated PA2 also. Basically, if you've seen the first one there's no point in watching the second one, because they are the exact same movie. Random object suddenly moves an inch in the night! Then it moves some more! And a little more! Then a door closes! Then there are thumpy sounds! There's no tension though, because you already know they're saving the malevolent-entity-dragging-someone-down-the-stairs bit for the end! At least in the first one there was a novelty factor. But sitting around for most of the film watching the pool appliance move a few feet or the pots and pans sway in between scenes of the boring, annoying family with their stupid dialogue did not thrill me in the least. (Also, siccing the demon on the other sister to save themselves? Assholes.) By the time stuff actually started happening I didn't even care anymore.

Just saw PA2. Awful. Not just for the glacial pacing and the non-scary events, but the ugliness with the Latina housekeeper (stereotypes, much?) and the disgusting cop-out of an ending. Unbelievable and thoroughly non-frightening. Can't believe they're doing a third.

The only thing really "scary" about this third film is that they filmed it in July and it's coming out the same year in October.
Ah, quality film making at its finest.

So...randomly and unexpectedly yanking actors back through the air = Scary Ghost Movies 1, 2 and 3? Apparently. I've been watching the commercials on TV and thinking, "So...this movie is about people getting yanked through the air, right?"

Saw this last night. Not quite as scary as PA2 but very enjoyable nonetheless with some quality scenes. The RT score is quite high for a horror sequel (72%).

recently saw the first two on netflix in honor of Halloween. Totally spooked me, even if it was a bit slow.

Someone had to have seen the new one. Who was it? I've enjoyed these movies for what they were (and certainly wish I had thought of this money-making concept) but I have way too much social anxiety to survive seeing this in a theater. I'll have to wait for On Demand. It looks like silly, scary fun. Was it?

PA4 is the #1 movie in America but attendance declined a lot from the previous one. A $52.5 million opening weekend last year vs. $30.2 million this year. The movie only cost $5 million to make so they aren't losing money but the studio can't be happy about the diminishing returns.
