I'm guessing the implication is that it's because he was prescribed meds for his recent back surgery and, being the naive "gee, pills, how do I take these" person he is*, had said "unexpected reaction." So yeah, super weak "apology," if you even want to call it that. *obvious sarcasm ETA: Well, he seems to be telling the truth about the booze. His breathalyzer was .00: linkGood for him. However, it probably didn't help his case when he was adamant about not taking the test in the first place:If he knew he hadn't been drinking, why not prove it by blowing into the little tube? I don't get it. I don't understand it either, but every TV DUI lawyer commercial I hear says 'know your rights and don't take the breathalyzer' I don't know if they're rolling the dice that by the time someone is transported to get the blood test their BAC will have dropped or if the breathalyzer is suspect or what. I also don't rule out the possibility that the TV DUI lawyers might just be trying to make themselves sound more necessary by literally scaring up business.

I never see commercials for those here in my city. I usually only see spots from personal injury lawyers. I wonder whether Tiger invoked his right to counsel. Maybe if Tiger had been more cooperative, this could have quietly gone away (aside from TMZ). Coming off as "arrogant" and "uncooperative" may have made this story more newsworthy than it had to have been. As it is, with Tiger's notorious history, this is a PR nightmare for him. From what I heard, Florida does not play when it comes to DUI or suspending your driver's license for infractions.

In Iowa, if you refuse to take the breathalyzer the DOT will automatically suspend your license. The only benefit to refusing is to decline to provide immediate evidence for criminal proceedings. However, once you are arrested, and the officer gets a warrant, they will take your blood for a much more accurate test. Then if you are able to delay the warrant and test until your liver has had time to process much of the alcohol in your system, you may skate by without a criminal conviction, but your license is still suspended.
It is much, much easier to just not drive while under the influence of any mind-altering chemicals. Much safer, as well.

He didn't refuse though. I posted an article noting the police report saying he was cooperative.

The dude is starting to look like Garfield the cat. That is one of the worse mug shots I've ever seen.

While few people look their best in a mugshot, I would not have recognized him without being told who he is. When his mugshot showed up on the local news, I thought that it looked like a darker version of Tiger Woods, not that it was Tiger. And I totally agree, his dad did a real number on him.
