I'm curious to know what exactly happened here, but am glad, for his children's sake, he survived.

They moved him to Cedars in LA. Cedars has a relationship with Kerlan Jobe which is a leader in sports medicine treatment (they can do miracles for torn ACLs). A few years ago Cedars stole the top lower extremity orthopaedic surgeons from USC (they've also raided UCLA for similar specialties). I only know this because the surgeon who did my mom's amputation was at USC and part of the group that moved to Cedars, and when I needed achilles tendon surgery I tracked him down at Cedars. I ended up using one of his team who advises to the American Ballet Theatre and the NFL, among others. Suffice it to say Tiger's getting probably the best possible care on the West Coast, and likely consultation from other top people around the country. Doesn't surprise me that they moved him but it does signal this is very serious.

I always thought that Cedars was a bit of a “celebrity “ hospital? It is set up to handle their privacy?

It sounds like she cares deeply about press attention. Was anyone really wondering about his former mistress's concern for him? I really wonder if Rachel Uchitel really had wanted to become Mrs. Tiger Woods. Meanwhile, Elin, Tiger's ex-wife and the mother of his children, has kept her mouth shut. (Granted, she has moved on to become seriously involved with another man, but she seems to have always minded her business, even while married to Tiger.) I hope Tiger is able to keep his injured leg ( ETA: as opposed to having it amputated, ladyboy).

I'm guessing you mean keep it attached to his person, and not just in a box in his home.

Thank you for the laugh because I literally imagined Tiger pulling a box from under his bed to reminisce the good old days with his leg. I also hope Tiger gets to keep his leg attached to his body. If this accident ends his professional golf career, it does make him playing with his son a few months ago all the more important and poignant.

I always thought that Cedars was a bit of a “celebrity “ hospital? It is set up to handle their privacy? Cedars has a specialty floor (the eighth, I think) that is set up for high profile patients with a separate entrance, enhanced security, and very nice suites. IIRC Katie Holmes and Beyonce gave birth there. I managed to get into one of those suites for surgery in 1984. One of my nurses told me all about seeing Elizabeth Taylor who had come to see Peter Lawford who was dying down the hall from me. UCLA and St. John's in Santa Monica also have similar set ups so Cedars is hardly the only "celebrity-friendly" hospital in the area. It is one of the best hospitals on the West Coast, and has been on a successful doctor-poaching streak for the past few years. Their oncology department is also outstanding with a lot of nationally known "top of their field" doctors. It has received huge endowments from Spielberg and Streisand among others. Wacky factoid: it's a Jewish organization run hospital so there is a bank of elevators that stops on every floor from Friday night to Saturday night in order to accommodate observant people who do not push elevator buttons on Sabbath.

I had OP surgery there 30 years ago and at that time every elevator stopped at every floor for this reason. I have a terrible reaction to anesthesia and puked every time the elevator moved all the way down. I think everyone appreciated they only had to go down one floor with me.

I had a friend who worked at Cedars-Sinai as a nurse in the 1980s and yeah, she got to see all the celebs!
