Are Oenomaus and Crixus less bulky than B&S or is it just my imagination? Not sure about Oenomaus, but Crixus is definitely leaner. I actually think the acting on the show is fairly decent - most of the leads and supporting actors have done smaller-budget projects and some have theatre experience. I'm also diggin' Gannicus - he's supposed to be around in season 2 because historically, he's one of the leaders of the slave revolt. Not sure how the writers will work that in, considering he's MIA in Blood and Sand, but they'll probably incorporate him in some kick-ass, unexpected way. Yeah, I love Spartacus and probably know too much about it, but I'd never admit it. If I ever get the DVDs, I'd have to hide them in a hollow book.

I don't mind telling people I like this show or even why I like it. I like sex and fighting. Yeah, Crixus looks less bulked up. Perhaps it makes sense, though, that he'd be bulked up more later when he's been a gladiator for a while. And did you guys know the actor who plays Oenomaus is in his early 50s?! Wow, dude. Lucy is looking kinda tired. It was especially noticable when she was shown with the actress playing Gaia. ETA: on some sites, the age of the actor playing Oenomaus is 40 and on some sites, it's early 50s. I'm confuuuuuuused. Also, how can Spartacus have a walk-on when this prequel is s'posed to take place five years earlier? ETA after seeing finale: I see now...You only hear Sparty's voice. What did you guys think of the finale? I really wanted Oenomaus to find out about his wife/Ganny. He must be really dense or think that Ganny is really innocent or maybe he just doesn't care? I can't believe that. Anyway, loved finding out about Ashur's injury and the malice he bears toward Crixus.

What?! Noooooooo! The prognosis for NHL isn't horrible--he was so young and in such good shape. =(

I was so sad to hear the news. Not only was he a gorgeous man and a good actor -- he gave real soul to what could've been just a caricature -- he also seemed to be a genuinely nice person. RIP, Mr. Whitfield. ETA: I love this photo.

He did (re: real soul), didn't he? He committed to that character. I feel so sorry for his family

Here's a preview of Spartacus: Vengeance, with interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. This season is going to be so kick-ass. I. CAN'T. WAIT. Bring on the beautiful men and women! I think the new Spartacus seems to be filling in the role quite nicely, based on the preview and trailer. It's got to be a tough job - replacing an actor who was so well-liked and respected by his peers - but the new Sparty is so gracious and thankful that I hope he does well.
