I didn't think that Ilythia was dead at the end, but maybe I missed something. Seriously hurt, yes, but not dead yet. I kind of hope that she's not - it would be good continuity.

I was unsure at first too but I read an interview at EW's site with the showrunner and he confirmed that Lithy is dead. He said he should have added some CGI blood to her mouth to really prove the point. That being said, this does give them some wiggle room if they decide to resurrect her like they did with Lucretia.

What was the point of her having his kid? If not, to build this connection between the two worlds. I thought Lythia & the kid would travel to Rome to establish some reason why Spartacus would be against Crassus. I don't know. Show Lythia doing her usual manipulation while hiding the fact that her child is the main rebel leader's. Ugh. So pissed about her death and the kid's.

Why even bring Lucy back? She really should have died last season and made Lythia the main villainess of S2.

It's the final season! I'm going to miss this show, but part of what made it so great was that it wasn't afraid to kill popular characters when it made sense in the story. Even Lucretia was only around for one extra season. I'm expecting War of the Damned to be bloody indeed (current guess: 2-3 rebels escape).

The first episode focused on establishing the current situation, but it was a good start IMO, mostly because the introduction of Crassus as the antagonist was promising. If my faves are all going to die, at least they're going to be beaten by an intelligent leader.

I haven't watched the first episode but I don't think I will watch this season. And it's for the dumbest reason ever - I don't want to get attached to these characters again and have them die.

I did read recaps though, so I know what's going on - and the gifs on Tumblr are pretty great. That Agron has got a nice butt.
