I am loving the drive in. So far I have seen Wonder Woman/Aquaman, Ghostbusters/Groundhog day, E.T./Jurassic Park, and just got back from The Goonies/Gremlins (Gizmo is adorable). All double features and only ten dollars for both. I am having a blast. This made me wonder what the bathroom situation was like since you’re watching double features.

I usually go to the bathroom before the first feature. There is a little break between the two so I run to the bathroom again. I also use that time too recharge my car since my radio is being used for the speakers.

A bit late chiming in, but I am super jealous of bloomlover's movie viewing options.

Bought our pass to go see Twister and Perfect Storm at the drive-in for day after tomorrow.
Taking the minivan for cover. They’ll make me park in the back. In this modern age of FM sound at the drive in, we may turn around and watch Major League on the other screen instead of Perfect Storm....
ETA: Saturday-We had a good time at the Drive-In, though MissP apparently couldn’t be bothered, and sat in the back of the minivan, finger-banging her phone.
When we pulled up to the box office kiosk, the second feature was no longer Perfect Storm. Now we were seeing a Jami Gertz double feature: Twister and Lost Boys. One of Traffic’s favorite movies EVAH! We had, in fact, tried to get MissP to watch it with us on Sunday (as a birthday event for Traffic), but she finger banged her phone through it then, too.
🙄
I had purchased a FryDaddy for Traffic as a late b-day gift, and spent the afternoon in a disastrous first attempt at fried chicken with it. (Pro tip: use SMALL pieces of chicken!) I tried to do full breasts on bones, and even when burning the coating, the chicken was still raw. I had to bake it for another hour, which meant we had (surprisingly good) fried chicken at the movies!
I took a boombox for audio, so we didn’t kill the car battery. Only took me until I was 54 to figure THAT trick out!
The scene when the tornado hits the drive-in showing the Shining was a bit meta....
All in all, a great night.

Tenet is more about the soundtrack than dialogue. Seriously, needs subtitles.

Nothing. Everything is being delayed, Dune was supposed to be released in December, now Oct 2021. Can’t believe the last movie I saw in a theatre was in January.

Regal Cinemas closingCan't blame them, there's nothing to show. The one near me had been showing old 80s movies, which I guess has a certain charm to see your old favorites on the big screen, but I doubt it was drawing huge numbers. Plus, with the limited number of seats they're allowed to sell, it couldn't be worth it to keep them open. Still sad though.

It's very sad. It wasn't VCRs or streaming that took them down. I still prefer the theater experience by far.
I still feel pity when I see AMC trying to sell big bags of popcorn as a curbside business. Going to the movies was one of my favorite pastimes. Lots of memories.

I took that experience for granted, going to a theatre and watching a movie. It was something that was always just there to do.
