We saw Dune over the weekend and I have finally accepted that Denis Villeneuve movies are not my jam. His films are visually stunning, but I feel nothing when I watch them.

I fell asleep for the first 10 minutes of Dune.

Saw Ghostbusters: Afterlife last weekend. It was cute and had plenty of callbacks to the original (which sadly, I'd forgotten a lot of details, so I definitely recommend rewatching the original so you can connect the dots more easily than I did).
On a purely shallow note, I was fascinated by the main teenage boy character. He has one of those faces that you can't stop looking at, even if you can't decide whether he's attractive or not and I also couldn't decide if I thought he was nerdy or not. Intriguing actor, in that Adam Driver sort of way.

Are you talking about Finn Wolfhard aka Mike Wheeler from Stranger Things and Richie in It? He is one of my favorite young actors.

I liked McKenna Grace and Logan Kim, aka Phoebe and Podcast. If they make a Ghostbusters sequel, I wouldn’t mind it just being them. Finn Wolfhard totally gives me Adam Driver vibes as well.

He’ll be interesting to see as an adult. He’s almost growing into a Timothee Chalamet look. Sidebar, my nephew was given the middle name Finnbar as a kind of joke, but when he was born, he was a Finnbar. Not a common name, but very cool.

LOL! When I was watching Dune all I could think was if they need someone to play a younger Timothy, Finn would be perfect as his younger self.

We watched Power of the Dog tonight. It was perfectly fine but no more than that. I do appreciate that it was creative/not a reboot, franchise, or remake, the cinematography was amazing, and so were most of the performances. But also it kind of dragged and Benedict Cumberbatch was NOT well cast. During the meatier emotional scenes he felt less discordant but I'm sure they could have found someone who was believable all the time. There were also a lot of gaps in the background which I'm sure were intentional but still, I wanted to know the answers to (namely, how exactly did they end up at the ranch in the first place? Why did their obviously wealthy parents just, it would seem, abandon them? What happened between Phil going to college and them going to the ranch? I mean presumably World War 1, but other than that).

Saw Spider-Man: No Way Home yesterday and loved it! Especially Ned’s Lola!
