The host of a podcast I listen to was at the London premiere of Top Gun and said the movie was fabulous. She did note that all of the posters at the premiere site/parties only featured Tom Cruise, none of the other cast members.

Top Gun: Maverick. Yeah...it's fantastic. Thoughts and prayers to the Cruise haters, but he knocked this one out of the park (he's very good in it). I have been waiting for this since before Covid. We watched Original Recipe last night and I’m even MORE pumped. And now that I know Danger Zone is in it, I’m even MORE pumped!!!

Yes, I remember being so excited that this and Wonder Woman 1984 were both coming out in summer of 2020 and then of course that didn't happen. WW ending up really sucking, so I'm happy to hear the good reviews for this one!

Just got back from seeing it and I loved it! It has great call backs to the original and it was fun and moved fast and I just loved it with all my Gen X heart. It is a smidge over 2 hours but you don't feel it all. There are no "dragging" spots, it just moves. It is fun and a pure "popcorn" movie.

After two years of a global pandemic many people are craving nostalgia and this movie provides this feeling in spades.

We went this afternoon and I left with the same thoughts. I actually had no idea it was even two hours long. And I don’t want to spoil anything, but I’ll just say that one of the casting decisions was absolutely spot on. Mr. Tanyak and I were whispering back-and-forth how perfect it was.

Enjoyed it so much. I do want to reassure everyone who hasn't seen it yet that there is a scene in which Tom Cruise runs with his arms furiously pumping. I do think that if, in real life, you adopted the exact same facial hair, head hair, and career path of your tragically deceased father you would be psych-tested right out of the opportunity to fly a billion-dollar plane but: whatever.

And if that didn't do it, the piano-playing and song choice would be cause for at least an intense evaluation.
