I actually think it's stupid Tom Hanks wasn't nominated. He was FANTASTIC in The Post--as was Meryl, who has had some "huh?" noms, but not this one.
Meh on all the continued 3 Billboards love, but whatever.

Wow! I was worried about Get Out so I'm thrilled to see the nods, especially Daniel Kaluuya. Also, I read that Rachel Morrison is the first woman EVER nominated in the Cinematography category, which is both wonderful and aggravating (that it hasn't happened sooner).

I'm happy about all the Get Out noms, but especially Jordan Peele for Best Director and Screenplay. So very, very deserving.

I'm happy that the Shape of Water did so well, and I'm particularly happy that Richard Jenkins got in there. It's a beautiful movie and he's been overlooked for what I think is an integral and heartbreaking part of it.

Hot take: The love for “Get Out” is wonderful. Franco’s omission is a pleasant surprise (I thought the noms were in before the allegations). I’m disappointed Hong Chau was omitted. It’s already difficult enough for Asian actors to get roles, period. Much less ones that get awards consideration.

So how mad do you think Kevin Spacey is that he was edited out of an Oscar nominated role?
I had read that Ridley Scott originally wanted Christopher Plummer for the role and was pressured by the producers to cast Spacey.
I don't believe in karma, but something about this is just so satisfying.

I love the four nominations for Call Me By Your Name, easily my favorite movie in a long time.
Tiffany Haddish not being able to pronounce any of the nominees‘ names became embarrassing after a while.

My mouth dropped open at a few, in the best way! Woody Harrelson being nominated! It’s about time. Sam Rockwell was wonderful, but I thought so was Woody. I didnt get why he wasn’t shown any love. All of the Get Out nominations. I thought it was the best movie of the year! Big yawn at Meryl and Denzel. Surprised Tom Hanks and Spielberg were left off, but I don’t disagree. This is Woody's third nomination, going all the way back to Leading Role in The People Vs Larry Flynt. He was great in Three Billboards, but I'm really pulling for Sam Rockwell, whom I ADORE.

I meant no love for the 3 Billboards movie. I could be wrong though. Didn’t check out all the award noms. But I am pulling for Sam too. I think he is probably one of the best actors of his generation!

Call me cynical, but I'm suspecting that Franco was omitted not because of the allegations (the nominations were indeed already underway at that point, is my understanding), but because the film is a comedy and also a film about a bad movie not one with a greater social meaning like Get Out. I don't think it was up the Oscar's alley to begin with, and perhaps the allegations cancelled out any chance it had left.
I'm thrilled for Get Out. Shocked, but thrilled.
