I'm amused by his snub mostly because I'm sure he thought he had a win, or at least a nomination, locked up.

I finally saw "Get Out". I really liked it. It's not what I thought it would be. It was kind of disconcerting to see a West-Winger as a racist monster! But great casting.
I still need to see Shape of Water, Phantom Thread, and CMBMN.
So far my preferences are: “The Post” “Dunkirk” “Get Out” “Lady Bird” “Darkest Hour” “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
PTA films are hit or miss for me, but I really love DDL, and it looks like my kind of offbeat film. I've heard good things about Shape and mixed reviews about CMBMN (too slow being the biggest critique). This will be the first year in a long time that I've seen all the nominees. Having said that, I'm still not excited to see the Oscars I feel like by the time they roll around, everything's pre-ordained.

I'm happy about all the Get Out noms, but especially Jordan Peele for Best Director and Screenplay. So very, very deserving. I'm sad that I don't think Get Out has a shot at most of the awards. It was a fresh, original concept and very well executed, but I feel like it won't be rewarded. I hope I'm wrong.

If Fran doesn't win, I riot.

I finally saw "The Phantom Thread". I loved it. I didn't expect the ending- so perverse! The set design, art direction, and costumes were sublime. It was such a feast for my eyes. I wish DDL would win over Gary, but I figure Gary is winning a career award. I'm surprised Vicky Kreips wasn't nominated. She held her own against Daniel and Lesley.
I'll riot if it doesn't win costume and score.

Loved the costumes and score too. Everything else, though. Ugh. Technically sumptious. Not much in story. And the Score for The Shape of Water is also gorgeous. I'll be happy with either. Just please, Academy, throw us a surprise in these Acting categories. It seemed so open just two months ago. Now, it's practically all but guaranteed.

Yeah, but every year after SAG and everyone else has awarded the same actors for months, we always hope for an upset. It never comes. Once SAG is done, the race is over basically. The only upset I could see coming this year is them giving Plummer another award, which I'd kind of love to be honest. The man's had an amazing career in his 80s, lol. He got his first (!!) Oscar nom at 80, won an Oscar at 82 and is now nominated again :-D
But yeah, it's going to be Rockwell, Janney, McDermond and Old Man.

I'm hoping Frances McDormand's message from the podium at SAG gets to the voters, and throws it Soirise's or Sally's way.

Speaking of Saoirse, interviewers really need to find another topic to talk to her about other than how to pronounce her name or what she thinks about Timothée Chalamet. The woman's on her third Oscar nom, her last one was literally two years ago and they're asking her AGAIN about her name?!
