Why would Kevin Hart refuse to apologize but then apologize after getting fired? He seems dumb, and his publicist must hate him.

That was SUPER fast.
It's a pipe dream, but ONTD suggested Graham Norton as a replacement and I can't tell you how on board I would be with that.

I wouldn’t mind Kimmel again, but his bits go on WAY too long. Johnny Carson never brought Karmac to the Oscars.

I have a complicated relationship with Kevin Hart (I sound like I'm in therapy), so cannot say I'm unhappy he bowed out. I don't get the "I'm not sorry, but I'm sorry" bullshit.
How about Dwayne Johnson? I'm kind of kidding, but he's nice to look at and he seems like a good guy (I just jinxed him, didn't I?).

I think Kevin Hart was a bad choice to begin with.
My choice is Maya Rudolph.

Yah, I wrote upthread that I thought it would be him and I’m surprised it wasn’t actually. At this point though, I don’t think he would accept the gig. He and Kevin are actually friends in real life and DJ doesn’t seem like he would do that to him (maybe if he had his blessings though). Maya Roudolph would be good though.

My choice would be for no hosts, no skits, no bits that make the ceremony longer. Just have presenters, musical performances, acceptance speeches, and memorial reel. The whole awards show genre is dying. Ratings drop every year. Time to think more modern. All people care about is the redcarpet and the winners. Give people what they want--a tight 2 hour show.

This will not happen, but I would like to see no host + a concerted effort to hire funny presenting duos with good chemistry. Hosting the Oscars strikes me as pretty thankless (I'm sure as soon as the Academy approaches you to do it an automated Anne Hathaway pops up and implores you to NEVER DO IT SAVE YOURSELF) and I think the quality of the show would be better if you had a bunch of comics with different styles writing minute-long bits rather trying to stretch one person's style out over four hours.
Edit: Babycakes, didn't see your post until I hit post but I agree with what you said too!
