I saw the animated shorts tonight-while I adored Burrow, I think If Anything Happens I Love You will win.

Delighted that Jessie Buckley has a nom for The Lost Daughter along with Olivia Coleman two brilliant performances in a very intriguing film. I haven’t seen Belfast yet but Ciaran Hinds has a nom too! I’ll be doing my usual Greecie all nighter in March

I haven't seen the respective movies yet, but I smiled to see Aunjanue Ellis and Ciaran Hinds get nominations. Two long-working actors who deserve to be recognized.

Because I'm petty like that, I'm mostly pleased that Jared "Look Ma, I'm Ack-Tiiing" Leto has been shut out for Gucci. And gotten a Razzie instead. It was the kind of performance that only centers on itself and is designed to draw attention and awards notice without bothering to actually consider material or scene partners. I thought it was ridiculous that he was getting other nominations for this nonsense.

However I’m definitely not looking forward to Kristen “Diana’s spirits talks to me“ Stewart. Full list of Oscar 2022 nominees.

I've seen 6/10 BP nominees and all the Actors. I think it's Power of the Dog's statue to lose, which is disappointing as I found that movie to be a terrible, self-important slog. Maybe I should try watching it again cause I stopped paying attention halfway through and turned it off before it was over. West Side Story would be my top choice of the rest that I've seen, followed by King Richard, Dune, Nightmare Alley, Don't Look Up. I'd probably put Dog after King Richard, which tells you what I thought of the rest. Surprised Macbeth didn't get in as it was at least a coherent, well-made film.
For the other Actor nominees, I'd rank:
1. Garfield, one of the best performances I've seen in years. 2. Smith, very good but often falls in to the Will Smith trying to hard not to be Will Smith. He does well imitating but can't quite pull together the mimicry with any of the dramatic beats. That's the difference between him and Garfield for me. Small gap 3. Washington, competent but nothing special. Have seen this performance of Macbeth over and over again on-screen and stage. Seems to be a case of impressive actor taking on impressive role.
Giant Chasm
4. Cumberbatch, would be better suited in the razzie category for his awful American accent and one-note, melodramatic ACTING. I've not been impressed with him in anything lately. 5. Bardem, felt like an SNL performance dropped into a film

The Power of the Dog does have a twist at the end, so try it again. I did find it very very slow, though, too.
Nightmare Alley and West Side Story would be my choices for Best Picture. Loved both of them.
It's just not a particularly great year for movies. Thanks COVID!!!

The Razzie's are where it is at this year. Bruce Willis got his own category: "Worst Bruce Willis Performance in a 2021 Movie". His performances in all eight of the movies he was in last year were nominated. I never heard of a single one of them.

Wow, Amy Adams got TWO Razzie noms. Chasing that Oscar is making her a Razzie darling. Matt Damon was ROBBED of a Razzie nom for The Last Duel. The man wore a mullet wig, FFS, show some respect for this transformation!

Having sat through The Last Duel about a week ago, Ben Affleck deserves that nomination. I hope he wins. He was AWFUL.
Oh Bruce. I will love you forever for Die Hard. Yippie Ki-yay Mother F*cker.
