What can you watch where? The Avocado has that covered. There are several Best Picture nominees on streamers now, including The Power of the Dog, Don't Look Up, CODA and Nightmare Alley.

Having sat through The Last Duel about a week ago, Ben Affleck deserves that nomination. I hope he wins. He was AWFUL. Oh Bruce. I will love you forever for Die Hard. Yippie Ki-yay Mother F*cker. The best character in Die Hard fell off the top floor of the Nakatomi Plaza. O Rickman how I still miss you. Bruce Willis deserves that Razzies category, as he squandered eight chances to make Red 3 last year.

For the other Actor nominees, I'd rank: 1. Garfield, one of the best performances I've seen in years. He was absolutely phenomenal. I haven't seen the others aside from Bardem (who I thought was decent). But Garfield made me rethink the guy I've only known as the in-between Spider-man. He killed. Now, the movie I thought was kind of long, meh, and inside-basebally. I have no idea what his chances are, but he was so, so good.

Am I going to have to deal with Kristen Stewart being victorious, I can’t even… Also, congrats to Troy Kotsur, who’s the first deaf male actor to be nominated for an Oscar. Between last year with “Sound of Metal” and “CODA”, I’m glad that the deaf and hard-of-hearing (granddaughter of deaf grandmother) are getting to have their stories told on screen. Otherwise, this year’s selection is a bit underwhelming. Going by Ryûsuke Hamaguchi’s Best Director Oscar nomination and what happened last year (Thomas Vinterberg was nominated for a Best Director and won the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film for Another Round), Drive My Car is definitely winning Best Foreign Language Film Oscar this year.

Any comments about Jane Campion's poorly thought out remarks to Serena and Venus Williams?
Have they already voted for the Oscars? Any chance this will hurt her chances of winning an Oscar?

I think she did a great job of showing why it's wise to plan out your remarks, go over the with a trusted loved one and not try to ad lib when you're on stage. I think what she said was boneheaded and not thought out. I think the reaction to it has been a little overblown. Final Oscar voting starts March 17. Her remarks shouldn't impact her chances of winning ... but then again Oscars SHOULD be about who did the best job, and are usually about who doesn't have a trophy that should, who showed up and brunches and behaved properly, etc. So in this case, I think Oscar voters will be torn between wanting to say she shouldn't have said what she did AND wanting to say they voted for a woman to win. What a pickle!

Any comments about Jane Campion's poorly thought out remarks to Serena and Venus Williams? Have they already voted for the Oscars? Any chance this will hurt her chances of winning an Oscar? No, she already won the DGA award. That award is one of the strongest predictor of who wins the Best Director Oscar. There are less than 10 examples of the winner of the DGA not winning the Best Director Oscar since 1948: 1. 1968 - Anthony Harvey ( The Lion in Winter) lost to Carol Reed ( Oliver!). 2. 1972 - Francis Ford Coppola ( The Godfather) lost to Bob Fosse ( Cabaret). 3. 1985 - Steven Spielberg ( The Color Purple) lost to Sydney Pollack ( Out of Africa). Spielberg was not nominated at the Oscars. 4. 1995 - Ron Howard ( Apollo 13) lost to Mel Gibson ( Braveheart). Howard was not nominated at the Oscars. 5. 2000 - Ang Lee ( Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) lost to Steven Soderbergh ( Traffic). 6. 2002 - Rob Marshall ( Chicago) lost to Roman Polanski ( The Pianist). 7. 2012 - Ben Affleck ( Argo) lost to Ang Lee ( Life of Pi). Affleck was not nominated at the Oscars. 8. 2019 - Sam Mendes ( 1917) lost to Bong Joon-ho ( Parasite). Congrats to Jane Campion on her win (only the third in 94 years?!?) ETA: Will Smith didn’t apologize enough to Chris Rock after slapping him, that was embarrassing!

Best Actress noms are an insulting mess. Where Danielle Deadwyler? Where's Viola Davis? Two noms that have no business being there and Michelle Williams belongs in supporting. Unbelievable.
