Which leads to the question - was Andrea not nominated because she wasn’t as good? Or because being such a small film in a year like this, was she overlooked? Having seen the film (and Till) I think she was that good and was overlooked.

Oscars, or more aptly its voters, have a long history of doing this (#OscarsSoWhite). It's just ~funny that in a year that was shaping up to be historic, with WOC making up the majority of the BA race (Yeoh, Davis, Deadwyler), that an ~organic, grassroots campaign, forgo two of those nominees for a White woman.

If there are shenanigans afoot with this nomination, could AMPAS rescind her nomination and replace in with a runner-up?

So, apparently the academy is meeting this week to look into the matter because it does appear rules were broken. However, if her nom is rescinded (highly unlikely), they said no, there will be only four nominees. Sucky situation all the way around. Anyway, Team Yeoh all the way! link

that an ~organic, grassroots campaign, forgo two of those nominees for a White woman. While I do think Riseborough's campaign was fishy and should be looked into, she definitely can't be blamed for two WOC nominees losing a spot. Riseborough only got one nomination. One of those other women wasn't going to be nominated regardless. None of the three women were in a vehicle that the Academy thought was strong enough to nominate in any other categories, which means none of them truly had a lock on a nomination. I wasn't surprised that an actor-driven campaign for Riseborough caught on because she's someone I've been hearing other actors rave about for 15 years, and yet she's never really broken through. And now she's got this Marisa Tomei-style taint on her. What a hollow victory to get an Oscar nomination under these circumstances.

I just watched EEAAO last night, and I'm also Team Yeoh. She was great. Also guy from Causeway with three names. He was excellent. (I just realized I've watched 3 Oscars movies in the last week, and I'm quite chuffed.)
I saw Women Talking last week and I don't understand how that doesn't have more hype surrounding it. It's HORRIFIC, very well done, and Sarah Polley deserves to win.

Brian Tyree Henry was so fantastic in If Beale Street Could Talk and has nominations across the acting spectrum (two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, Tony Award). He is amazing and I support him 100%. Go, Brian!
