Hey, I *love* the Globes, diablo - most years they don't even have a musical in the comedy/musical category, but there's three contenders this year - Sweeney Todd, Once and Across the Universe.

Don't forget Hairspray.

I thought James McEvoy was sensational in the film. His best scenes were outside the war--the fountain, the cafe, the scene in Keira's apartment (trying not to spoil).

I don't see either George or Viggo getting nominated. And I don't see Russel getting nominated for 3:10, and is probably gonna go Supporting in American Gangster. Atonement is a far likelier Best Picture nominee than Michael Clayton and Eastern Promises, and James and Keira will just be swept in the Atonement wave. Whether they will win is much less likely, for various reasons.

Keira Knightly, double Academy Award Nominee will just make me gag. Unfortunately I think she deserves the nomination for atonement much more than the last one. That should have been Elizabeth Bennet, Academy Award Nominee.

I thought the little girl who played Briony totally deserved a supporting nod though.

I honestly don't even see them getting nominated. If for some reason they decided to campaign Brad for Supporting then he might have a tiny little chance (don't dare to think where that would leave Casey Affleck who then would have two lead roles he might get a nom for ). Brangelina will def. get GG noms because the GGs love big stars and wouldn't be able to resist the star power of these two.

I thought they were pushing Affleck for supporting in Jesse James so he could go for lead in Gone, Baby, Gone.

I'm not sure Jesse James will get anything...it hasn't made much impact, but they may be able to send out DVDs of it by Oscar time.

But if the studio wants to campaign for Brad they might put him in Supporting (which if course doesn't mean that the Academy has to follow that). He doesn't stand a chance of getting nominated in Lead this year so a switch might happen with Casey as Lead for JJ.
Are both films -Jesse james and Gone Baby Gone- from the same studio?

Absolutely Hairspray, I'll be shocked if that doesn't get a nomination for the GG's.

As for the Oscars, I'd say Best Original Song for Ladies' Choice.

Does anyone know if Sweeney Todd has an original song in it? Seems like something the studio would push for, but I also know they chopped a great deal of the material to make it in 2 hours.

I want to see Johnny Depp sing at the Oscars.
