About Last Night, The Big Chill and Say Anything. I think I just missed my window and now they're so dated I have no interest in them at all.
My best friend has never seen the Godfather movies (yeah, that's right, I called her out to temper my shame.)

Lost in Translation. People tell me it's a good movie but to me, it really, really isn't and I can't get the hype.

Yeah I saw that and the only thing that stuck with me is Johanssen in some see through undies at some point, and the interwebs freaking over it. Nothing else comes to mind.

Apocalypse Now. I know I should love it, for its unflinching darkness, its anti-establishment bent, its beautiful surreality...but I have always found it to be gratuitous, vulgar and artless. Plus, I don't love the way it interprets Campbell's novel (too obvious.)

The Dark Knight, sorry tried watching it a few times, just can't like it. Agree. I had to force myself to finish it. Batman Begins was a hell of a lot better as far as I'm concerned.

Lost in Translation. People tell me it's a good movie but to me, it really, really isn't and I can't get the hype. Well, I'll always love me some scarlet walking around in panties, but that is all I remember. The Dark Knight, sorry tried watching it a few times, just can't like it. Agree. I had to force myself to finish it. Batman Begins was a hell of a lot better as far as I'm concerned. I actually liked dark knight, but only because of Ledger. I don't know if i would have bothered with this one if I had not heard Ledgers performance in it was going to be so strong. I avoided batman begins because Katie Holmes is in it and I still haven't seen it to this day and I don't intend to. I haven't seen it but I just can't wrap my head around Avatar. It just sounds like such a trite sci fi story. The special effects may be the best ever but I just couldn't get away from it being no better then The Dark Crystal

RE: Avatar - same here, alpierce. I'm a geek, I have a geek job, and I'm married to a geek - and yet, the idea of Avatar leaves me cold. My fellow geeks are horrified at me. Heh.

On the Batman movies - it's funny, I feel almost exactly the reverse. I really liked The Dark Knight (and although Ledger was great, it's Aaron Eckhart who really steals the show for me every time) but thought Batman Begins was kind of a trudge. The best parts were pretty, pretty Cillian Murphy.
I thought Avatar was entertaining in a whiz-bang kind of way, but I don't really have any desire to see it again. Plus the whole Dances With Wolves subtext of the story kind of skeeved me out.

The best parts were pretty, pretty Cillian Murphy. That's how I feel too, only I'd add Liam Neeson as a good part of Batman Begins. It was just so freakin' boring and Katie Holmes almost completely wrecked it for me. I'm not terribly fond of origin stories in the first place. There's usually way too many inside jokes that only the supergeek comic book fans get.
