I realized over the Thanksgiving holiday that I don't really watch movies anymore. I have a list of about 10 TV series on my agenda to binge. No movies.
However, I did watch Bounce on TV over the weekend, the 2000 Ben Affleck/Gwyneth Paltrow movie. Total garbage. But it had a refreshing pre-9/11 innocence to it and a soundtrack heavily featuring Dido, so that was kind of a fun blast from the past.

Tag.
It sounded like a cute, harmless premise that might make for mindless fun, but in reality it was one of the most mean-spirited movies I've ever seen.

The Interview. Racism, sexism and homophobia are not funny.

The Interview. Racism, sexism and homophobia are not funny. The one from 2014? If so, yeah, not a great movie for all of the hype it got.

Both Arrival and Prisoner from the same director (Denis Villeneuve) annoyed me and it annoys me even more that so many seem to love both :-D there is such a faux depth to these films that made me roll my eyes out of my head basically. The only part of Arrival that was bearable was Amy Adams' performance but she's Amy Adams :-D Here's hoping that the new decade will bring better films from Villeneuve!

The Bronze It's an alleged comedy about a washed up Olympic gymnast coaching a young contender, but not only did they leave out the jokes, the main character is such a total POS that I found myself thinking that the 'villainous' character was an example of sterling rectitude compared to her.

The Death of Stalin. Yes, I get why it's supposed to be funny. It also contains "jokes" about rape and executions. Bad taste, all the way through.

I haven't seen Prisoners, but I totally agree about Arrival. We went to see it in the theater and Mr. L loved it and I hated it. I did not get the hype beyond Amy Adams's performance (and she's good in everything so this wasn't a surprise).
