Did anyone see the, dear lordy, live action version of Year Without a Santa Claus on telly a couple days ago? I caught the first half hour of it, then I had to turn off the awfulness - bleeccch!

Right at this moment, I'm watching Home Alone, and it's the scene that always gets me - when he's in the church, talking to the old man next door, while the children's choir sings "O Holy Night". (*sniffle!*)

It's a Wonderful Life is on. I've probably seen it a hundred times. I enjoy it immensely (at least when I'm not too busy wanting to slap Uncle Billy upside the head). I love Jimmy Stewart's performance so much.

I love Jimmy Stewart's performance so much. Oh, yes, one of the biggest messages I got out of that movie is, "Don't trust the drunken uncle with anything - ever." That aside, I love this damn movie, and White Christmas - I always get teary through the last fifteen minutes of the latter, starting from about the time when General Waverly appears on the landing in full uniform. I have the boxed set with the Big 4 of cartoon Christmas specials, plus Frosty Returns. Of those, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town is my favorite. I love the music, especially 'First Toymakers to the King.'

I always tear up at the end when Kevin looks out of his window and sees his old neighbor hugging his grandchild. Gets me every time.

Another one. When I was growing up, the week between Christmas and New years, each day at noon the local tv station would play a holiday cartoon. The one I loved the most was called " The Happy Prince" I know Christopher Plumber(sp?) was the voice of the prince...wish I could recall the voice of the sparrow. God I loved watching that. I wish I could find it somewhere. It's a classic.

Last night was the 1999 version of "A Christmas Carol" with Patrick Stewart as Scrooge. Out of all the traditional versions of "A Christmas Carol" this one is my absolute favorite, no contest. He was fabulous! (Of course, my favorite version of A Christmas Carol" is "Scrooged" with Bill Murray, but I'm talking about traditional versions here!)

I love "The Muppet Christmas Carol" the best. I don't even really like Muppets (except for Muppet babies, which I grew up with), but for some reason it's the only version that does it for me. I was so devastated last Christmas when I couldn't find our VHS copy. It's not Christmas without singing rats! I also like watching "Edward Scissorhands" during the holiday, and "The Nutcracker." For those who also watch the Nutcracker, which version is your favorite? I grew up watching Nutcracker: The Motion Picture, which I love. The Arabian Dance is done by a Peacock! I used to rent it from Blockbuster every year during the holidays, but when they switched over to all DVDs they got rid of their VHS copy! Since it's only ON VHS I can't find it anywhere. *sniff* I've been trying to find a new version, but none are quite the same.

Re: The Nutcracker, I grew up watching the Baryshnikov version and some other one that was all done on ice with cutaways to a very creepy Herr Drosselmeyer (and if anybody knows what that one was or where I can get it, let me know!). The ice skating one is my favorite, but I haven't seen it since the mid-eighties.
I will be watching "A Muppet Family Christmas" tonight. I have the DVD but I downloaded the original version that doesn't have all the stuff cut out. It even has late 1980s commercials in it! Then I might put on the Claymation Christmas special from back then, too. The dorfy bell is one of my favorites.
