It's all right to cheat on your spouse if said spouse is a bitch or a prick; don't bother to get a divorce, just cheat on them to find truelove.
Oh and the romcom about leaving someone at the altar, wasn't that Serendipity?

Nerds always want to be part of the popular crowd. They will completely abandon childhood friends in order to belong to the in crowd. But not to worry, the popular group will find some way to humiliate the former nerd, making the former nerd realize that true friends only come in one size: the unpopular size. And because nerds are desperate people, they will happily welcome back the former nerd despite the fact that the former nerd completely ignored them for months or participated in some event that completely humiliated the nerds.
Also, there is nothing objectionable about four guys making a bet to lose their virginity by a certain date. And no matter what they do, whether they lie, make fools of themselves, humiliate someone else, sleeping with their best friend's mom/sister/girlfriend, as long as it in is in the pursuit of losing their virginity, it's not sad or pathetic, its HI-LARIOUS!

I hate Do the Right Thing And I was pissed when they burned down the Pizza Shop. Didn't that vindicate everything the owner and his sons thought about their darker brethren? The people in that neighborhood couldn't be trusted, could they? Being a victim of racism doesn't give you the right to animal-like rage and destruction.

I actually know of a woman this happened to. Her toad/groom dumped her on the morning of the wedding - and it was a big wedding. Her father, having paid for the whole thing, insisted that everyone go through with the wedding breakfast and she had to sit there, totally humiliated, in her wedding dress while everyone pretended everything was normal and hoed into all the free food and booze. I gather it was neither romantic or funny.
I would have grabbed the microphone, denounced the groom and my father and promptly gone home to get rat-faced. But that's just me!#nosmileys

Wow, RedSquirrel, I can see why he'd be feeling strongly, but that's just a brutal thing to do to your daughter. It's always why people should get wedding insurance.
No, John Cusack has the "grace" to dump her the day before.
Romcoms where people leave people at the altar include: Runaway Bride, In and Out, Four Weddings and a Funeral and Sweet Home Alabama.
I honestly don't know why this is such a popular theme when it's such a horrible thing to do to a person. I kind of liked that The Wedding Singer showed the downside of it, just how much pain and humiliation it dumps on someone.
Mind you, on consideration, I think that romcoms by and large seem to be based almost entirely on people behaving appallingly. They dump perfectly good and adoring partners because they like the sound of someone else's voice on the radio (Sleepless In Seattle), they hire prostitutes(Pretty Woman, The Wedding Date), they ruin people's businesses and still expect dates (You've Got Mail), they lie about their relationships (The Wedding Planner, While You Were Sleeping, My Best Friend's Wedding, they lie about their identities (Made In Manhattan, Heartbreakers), they lie about their activities (Shall We Dance?)they cheat (A Guy Thing), they sleep with their best friend's or sibling's partner (Kissing A Fool, America's Sweethearts), they stalk and plot elaborate and painful revenge (Addicted to Love), they try to split people up (My Best Friend's Wedding)...
Really, on consideration, I have no idea why I'm supposed to like these people or care about a single damn things that happens to any of them. Not to mention that most of them are shrill harpies and arrogant fucktards in any case.

I hated Pay it Forward and its stupid "message." And that's not to say I don't agree with doing nice things for other people, but the movie was so irritating and the message was pounded in so hard that by the end I wanted to hit someone.

Off topic: I'm no expert, but I don't think that any wedding insurance policy will cover one of the parties simply deciding to cancel the wedding and not get married. It's really for when your ceremony in Florida gets postponed by a hurricaine. (Can you imagine anyone BUYING such insurance -- "We're planning to get married, but I want to feel free to change my mind at any time up till the actual day.")
Also, my brother had a friend (a man) who was literally left at the altar. Interesting story.
On-topic: If you are unjustly accused of a crime, it's perfectly all right to commit lots and lots of subsequent crimes (including assaults, kidnapping and even manslaughter/murder) in order to clear yourself. The judicial system will just ignore all those crimes (and maybe even have a good laugh) when the original charge is disproven. (The Negotiator and a million others.)

I didn't like it because it seemed like Lee didn't have enough forethought before he started throwing out all of these moral platitudes. First, why does everybody burn down this pizza place if it's such a part of their history? Second, why would they get angry at the Italian wall of fame? If they've been going there for so long, why argue about it now? If they're proud of their heritage, why can't someone else be? If it's such a big deal, make their own freaking wall of fame. It just strikes me as being pretty hypocritical. A lot of things bug about this film and the message of peace within seems very hollow. And then at the end everything goes back to normal? You know, with all this hatred, maybe it really shouldn't. Maybe they would be better off apart....not a happy ending, but there you go.
Oh yeah, I hate this one too. For once I'd like to see an ending which says 'yeah, you were innocent of those charges, but you were guilty of those other ones so techincally...BACK TO THE HOLE!"

Well, Material Girl, it's not so much a specific movie, it's the entire genre, from The Graduate to Sleepless in Seattle, where someone gets left at the altar/broken engagement at the last minute and it's not seen as monstrously selfish. Yeah, but wasn't the wedding in The Graduate arranged by her parents? And she was only doing it because she was all broken-hearted about Ben having had an affair with her mom, who claimed he actually raped her or whatever? Let's see... Ladies it is your right-nay, your solemn DUTY, to snoop and spy on your man, no matter how trustworthy he is. If he so much as glances at another woman, who has a female friend, he is EVIL and you must withhold sex and act like a pouting spoiled brat. But you have every right to openly flirt with other guys in front of him, and if he objects, he's a jealous asshole. If you are a single father, the sweet, beautiful young woman you are marrying will hate your children. She hides it well from you, but to them she is evil incarnate, and will stop at nothing to get them sent to military school. Listen to your kids and marry the plain, nice woman you hate-because she likes your kids. It's okay to cheat on your fiance with some guy you've known for a day, to sleep with said guy, and declare that guy the LOVE OF YOUR LIFE. Even though you were only together for less than 48 hours before he kicks the bucket, he is your one and only. And when you die, you will be reunited with your brief boytoy-not your husband of so many years and the father of your children. No matter how beautiful a woman is, put glasses on her and you've got an instant "uggo!" Rich people are evil. Poor people are nice.
