I resented everything about Erin Brockovich. Not everyone who does something marginally interesting should have a fucking movie made about them. And the way the character was shaped was especially annoying. OF COURSE she knows all these people's vital information by heart, 'cause man, she's one of the people, man, and that hurts (pounds chest) in here, man. And of course that's going to impress at a deposition, because what's a deposition for if not to dazzle lawyers and arbitrators with names and numbers off the top of your head?

I just recently rewatched Good Will Hunting. What made me so mad was the "love story". Matt Damon/Will lies to Minnie Driver about his life, family, etc. Then he gets upset when she calls him on it, yells, screams, shoves her, and she is still- I love you, I love you. He then says he doesn't love her. But she still loves him. Then the end, and he goes to her. Yeah, sorry, I would soo slam the door in his face when he got there. Way to show a stong female, yes a man can be emotionally and physically abusive, that's completely alright.

People who brought up Do the Right Thing, now I have never seen that movie, but on a similar note I wanted to say that I had no idea what kind of statement Bamboozled was trying to make. The TV station put on the minstrel show, and black people across America loved it, but a handful of violent neo-Black Panther extremists hate it so they kill you. What the Hell is that supposed to mean? It was as though Spike Lee was saying that all the tons of people who liked the show were completely wrong, but luckily a group of crazed individuals stepped in with brutal force to set everyone straight. Am I missing something?

There is a movie called The Shape of Things where the female lead completely and totally destroys the male lead. For the sake of art. She pretty much gets away with emotionally raping the guy and never gets called out on it. I hated that movie. Someone needs to rewrite the ending where she gets an F on her assignment for toying with someone's life. So the bad moral, "It's ok to toy with someone's affections and mess up their life for the sake of art"

Haven't yet seen it but based on the description...maybe Spike is anti-BET or anti-African American centric shows?

I don't Lee has a solid or well-described point as much as he likes yanking people around. Which by itself is pretty funny if handled correctly, not labeled as a satire or a 'message picture.'

I'm not sure (it's been a while since I've seen it) but I don't think the show was appealing to African-Americans. I think it's white people in the audience who are eating it up and finally wearing blackface, because they've been told this is the next big hit show, smiling and laughing at the show while ignoring the seriously offensive content.
But yeah, Spike likes to push buttons, all right. More than one writer has opined that he's better at epic filmmaking then at small stuff. Like Branagh.

Moral: If a woman you're interested in is being too coy and playing games, drag her upstairs and rape her. The next morning she be all sunshine and roses! Gone With the Wind

It doesn't matter that you're obnoxious and cruel towards your girlfriend, cause she's obviously a snob; you deserve to win another girl's heart since you're goodlooking, cool, and popular. Sixteen Candles: annoying ending, so not romantic.
