I love Rock 'n' Roll High School, but PJ Soles just seemed like a middle-aged lady playing a teenager. (And maybe she was that old, I'm not sure.)
What, no mention of Hedwig and the Angry Inch yet? I think John Cameron Mitchell is a genius. I loved Hedwig so much, and I cry at her rendition of "Wicked Little Town."

Stinkers include pinch-faced, spastic Kevin Bacon as a rebellious 'teen' in white-bread boy Footloose Awwww, I loved Footloose. LOVED! I might as well add another unpopular opinion: that I adored Eddie and the Cruisers when it came out in the 80s. I think most of that had to do with the gorgeous Michael Paré though. OMG, Kafka, I used to watch Eddie and the Cruisers all the time with my brother. He loved it for some reason, I always watched for Michael Pare. I loved Footloose too. A guilty pleasure of mine is That Thing You Do.

You know, you're the first person I've come across in probably more than a decade who hasn't stared at me with a blank look when I mention Eddie and the Cruisers. Did you ever see the sequel? It was really bad, so bad that it made the original look Oscar-worthy but I saw it just for Michael Paré. God, the man was gorgeous.

There is a scene, where he is lying in bed, shirtless, smoking a cigarette, and then goes to a flashback, that just took my breath away when I first saw it. Still love Tom to this day, and will watch any crappy thing he is in. And I bought the Eddie and the Cruisers soundtrack. I have not seen this in years, so I think I will head over to Amazon and see if they have this on DVD.

I wouldn't have stared at you with a blank look! Gawd, I love that movie. "Word and music. Words and music."
Although even back then I remember hating how Ellen Barkin talked out of the side of her mouth.
I always thought that they did such a great job with picking John McCafferty and the Beaver Brown Band for the music; that voice did seem like it could have come out of Michael Pare. Who, yes, was quite beautiful.
Another rock 'n roll movie I love madly is The Idolmaker with Ray Sharkey. It's so great.

Times Square is an amazing movie! I'm a damn dog! Your daughter is one! Loooooooove that movie. Saw it on opening night and I got a free EP with all the good songs from the movie, including "Damn Dog," and "Psycho Killer." Any love for Purple Rain? That was an awesome movie ... when I saw in 1984. Today? Kinda embarrassing.

Has anyone else seen Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains featuring a very young Diane Lane? Ray Winstone plays the British punk rocker who first sleeps with and then sabotages her girl group. I love "Waste of Time."

Did anybody here ever see The Repo Man? I know that the soundtrack was a huge hit with my next-door-neighbor who was totally into punk.
