I just realized they are filming a biopic about Elton John starring Taron Egerton. I am SO there. It's done filming and out at the end of May. A bit of controversy came out today because Paramount wants to cut a "nude cuddle" scene between TE and Richard Madden.

God, has it been 11 years since we did anything in this thread??
I know nothing about the Elton biopic, but I will want to see it.
I just went through this entire thread, and had to giggle. Last week I was trolling the questionable regions of the interwebs and acquired pretty decent versions of Times Square, The Fabulous Stains, and best of all, a full version of Breaking Glass that has the original ending that was cut from the US version. (Side bonus: in the scene where they go into the pro studio with the poobah producer, the mixing console is a Harrison like the one I used to have in my studio.)
I also found a copy of the Slade movie, Flame. The bootleg DVD I bought years ago was a PAL version, and I had it for years before I had a dvd player that could play it, and when I tried to watch it, the audio was so garbled I gave up. This copy is much cleaner, and the only problem is the midlands accents. EVERY review of it on IMDB comments that it should be subtitled for American viewers, and they are not wrong. But, it is a pretty great movie. Grittier than you would think a glam band would go for. Definitely not Slade's version of A Hard Days's Night. Also, Tom Conti's movie debut.
I don't know how "music movie" it is, but another movie I adore is The Stoned Age. It was an MTV movie, I think, and it features China Kantner. I may identify with one of the main characters to an embarrassing degree...

That was my introduction to Roxy Music, one of my permanent favorites! You must have been on some REALLY questionable regions of the web to find that!

Rocketman, the Elton John movie looks like it's going to be great. Elton John was very involved and his husband David Furnish is one of the producers. I don't think it will shy away AT ALL from the sexual aspects of his life. With Bohemian Rhapsody, you wonder how Freddie Mercury would've wanted to tell his own story. The band members had a lot of say in what was and wasn't presented on screen and lordy, it showed. Bohemian Rhapsody bad editing breakdown. This movie won an Oscar for editing. FWIW, I enjoyed the movie because I liked Rami Malek and loved the music, of course, but recognized that it wasn't a great movie. The Oscar love was puzzling.

I am so excited for the Elton John movie! Right? My sister and I once tried to put together our top ten Elton John songs lists. Couldn't do it. Too many. The man is amazing.

If you haven't read the dirt I highly suggest it. You can't put it down- it really doesn't try to hide the fact that these guys are absolute garbage people. They are such human trash that by the time that Vince Neil's young daughter died of cancer near the end, I felt literally nothing for him. The movie was like a cartoon version with a lot of boobs. The acting was better than I expected- except for the guy who played Nikki, which is too bad since Motley is kind of a Nikki- centered band. This is a pretty great review of the book.
