Anyone ever see Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour? She wears this gorgeous white lace beaded gown (it looks a LOT like the dress Kate Winslet wears at the end of Titanic), that's to die for.

I loved the outfit that Jane Seymour wore when Reeves sees her. SIT is one of those bad movies I love. Titanic and SIT are pretty much set in the same time -- 1910s

Anna Karenina has gorgeous costumes. Didn't really like the movie though.

I love all kinds of fashion from all different eras, so even the most boring movie is slightly redeemed for me if there are pretty clothes to look at. Word to all your posts, plus:
Jennifer Connelly's poofy white ballgown in Labyrinth. Honk if you fantasized about that dress when you were a kid. ::covers ears:: Heck, the whole ball sequence is full of amazing masks and costumes.
Violet's outfit in A Series of Unfortunate Events. I belong to a goth-ish fashion community on LJ, and when the trailer first came out, I immediately had to post screencaps so we could all ooh and ahh. She has a really pretty coat when they go to stay with Meryl Streep, too.
No love for the men's costumes in LotR? The hobbits' costumes are so tweedy and cozy-looking, and Legolas' silvery-blue shirt thingy in Lothlorien is quite pretty.
Movies that I have cribbed styles from: Amelie (actually, I kind of dressed like her even before I saw the movie), The City of Lost Children, Chocolat (except I walk a lot, so I can't wear red pumps everywhere), and Cold Comfort Farm (Kate B-not-dating-Orlando-Bloom wears a scallop-collared blouse with a brown vest and skirt that are quite cute.)
One movie with costumes I didn't like, though, was House of Flying Daggers. Takeshi Kaneshiro's sumptuous turquoise brocade whatever-it-was in the Peony Pavilion was so shapeless, and the HofD polyestery-looking green dresses, wicker Madonna ponytail holders, and coolie hats just were not doing it for me.

Limey, when you learn to sew, iffen you ever want to make Barbie-sized Titanic outfits, give me a holler!
My favorite movie wardrobe, without a doubt, is Molly Ringwald's from Pretty in Pink... except the prom dress at the end. I actually had a list at one time of every single outfit from the movie, and am still craving the green baseball jacket she wore!

Yes! I loved MR's wardrobe in Pretty in Pink. Little pre-teen me could never understand why the the rich girls were making fun of her when she looked so cool and they looked like classic 80s nightmares (I did finally figure out that they were just evil and Andie was poor - just a little slow on the uptake).
Then the prom dress at the end - yikes! Ugly, shapeless mess. I also wondered if Annie Potts, who had held onto her prom dress all those years, got pissed when she found out that Andie cut it up to make that monstrosity.

I loved Doris Day's entire wardrobe in Pillow Talk and I would not have turned down the silver-gray convertible with red interior that Tony Randall offered her as a gift.

The hideous prom dress was the secondmost incomprehensible thing in the movie. The first is Andie picking Blaine over Ducky, of course

1. My Fair Lady, of course! I get such a kick out of the enormous hats. 2. Gigi. The dresses are a 1960s take on turn-of-the-century fashions, so some of them look hilariously dated, but I love Gigi's white dress at the end. Both of these movies were costume-designed and production-designed by Cecil Beaton. I am now his fan. I rewound and watched the ball scene over and over again when I was younger. Magic, gorgeous evil magic . . .

Alas, I have not.
