That's my second home! I want to make adaptions of some of them- I wouldn't do a straight recreation because they're not designed for me. I'd rather have something that references the costume because then you can wear it IRL without looking silly. For example, taking elements of the [color=bridge dress for an evening gown would be lovely.

No love for the fabulous glamosity of the costumes in Velvet Goldmine?
I adore the satiny white dress Ginger Rogers wears during the "Never Gonna Dance" number at the end of Swing Time.
I've been looking for a color picture of Judy Garland's costume from the end of Easter Parade forever. I love the white dress paired with the pink gloves.
Rita Hayworth's "Put the Blame on Mame" dress from Gilda is a classic.
Such a simple, beautiful dress. I also love her "Cloud City" ensemble in The Empire Strikes Back.

Ewan in gold leather...rrrrroooowwwrrr!!!
Dwanollah, have you checked eBay? I have the Rose doll from Galoob, with the red and black beaded dress. I also have the one from Franklin Mint. She's wearing her blue velvet flying suit and sitting between Holly Golightly and Galadriel.

I adored Maria's yellow dress in West Side Story - and actually a LOT of the dresses - the full swirling skirts for the Sharks girls and the skanky but sexy tight skirts for the Jets girls, with thier tight sweaters.

Betty Davis' party dress in All About Eve: the best wardrobe slip-up evah! What was the "slip-up?" (Believe it or not, I've never seen that movie...)

The dress she wears to the dance (white with red sash around the waist) and the pale blue she wears during "Quintent" and her little dance on the rooftop are lovely, too. Back when West Side Story came out, my Mom was so in love with the yellow dress that she had my Grandma make one just like it for her. I wish I knew where it was!
Another red-waisted white dress favorite (why are so many of my favorite movie dresses white?)...Mary Poppins' "Jolly Holiday" dress. (Don't laugh.)

I watched "Vanity Fair" last night and while I'm sure this adaptation was pretty liberal with the original story, the costumes were amazing. Just so lush with color they practically oozed it. Even the men's clothes. The wardrobe department must have had a field day with that movie. The costumes alone were worth the rental fee.
I love just about everything Holly Golightly wore in "Breakfast at Tiffany's", but especially the hats. In fact, that was a pretty good accessories movie. Great hats, purses and gloves. And don't forget the cigarette holder.

Edith Head originally designed the dress as *not* off-the-shoulder. There was some slip-up when the dress was actually made, and just before they began shooting the party scene, Head and Davis discovered that the shoulders were WAAAAAAY too big. Then, Davis tried pulling the dress off-the-shoulder and, in the words of Birdie Coonan, "Voila."
If I knew how to link to an image of the dress in question, I would. Can anyone help me out?
