I thought Shirley Maclaine was the scene stealer in Steel Magnolias. I am going to have to agree with you. Shirley owned that film IMO. Of course I may be biased since all of my friends who saw that with me agreed that when I am that age, I will totally be Ouiser. Dunno what that says about me but I am inclined to agree.

I thought Shirley Maclaine was the scene stealer in Steel Magnolias. I thought so too. She was so campy and crude in some scenes, so unlike other characters she plays. "M'Lynn, I'm not CRAZY. I've just been in a VERY BAD MOOD for 40 years!" Heh.

The actress who plays Hugh Grant's sister is also a hilarious scene-stealer in her own right. I don't really care for the film but I still crack a smile when I think of the way she delivered the line "Holy fuck!" after seeing Julia Roberts for the first time. She was the only thing that saved that movie. It's so dull.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman has stolen every scene of every movie he has ever been in. I actually rented and (gag) watched that godawful Along Came Polly just because he was in it. (And yes, he stole every scene, he just wasn't in enough of them to make that movie paletable or worth my $3.00)
Twister Boogie Nights Talented Mr. Ripley Almost Famous
Yep, he stole 'em all.
(And I'm not counting Capote, because, duh, of course he stole that one)

Phillip Seymour Hoffman has stolen every scene of every movie he has ever been in.... (snip!) Twister Let me just tell you how Twister sealed my PSH love. When the storm chasers arrive back at Helen Hunt's Aunt Meg's house and see that it's just been crushed by the twister, PSH goes nuts. He screams " MEG! No!" and runs towards the house - and he's the first one. To me, that was just so incredibly sweet - that this goofy stoner-type metalhead just flipped at the thought of HH's aunt being hurt or killed.

One of my favorite scene-stealing performances is Vincent Cassel in Elizabeth. That film had so many awesome performaces, but he remained one of my favorite parts of the film (maybe because he was genuinely funny). He hasn't been so well used in an English language film since. Sadly. He is a great actor, but no one knows what to do with a skinny, borderline fug, Frenchman when he isn't speaking French. Sigh. He was even better in Ocean's Twelve, especially during the "Blue Laser Dance" scene. Swoon! Another favorite scene stealer is Peter Sarsgaard, who's great in, among other roles, Garden State, Kinsey, Boys Don't Cry and especially Shattered Glass. Hayden Christensen was good in it, but PS was better, IMO.

Samuel L. Jackson in "Pulp Fiction". Everyone was on John Travolta's left nut over that movie, but Sam had the best lines that everyone remembers and that I quote regularly. Late to the party, but oh my, yes. ("Say 'what' again. SAY 'WHAT' AGAIN. I dare you, I double dare you, motherfucker. Say 'what' one more goddamn time.") *sigh*

Oh god, ditto on Rupert Everett in My Best Friend's Wedding. I LOVED his answering machine message, "BREVITY is the order of the day." Cracks my shit up.

Saw Soul Food again last night and Brandon Hammond, who plays Ahmad, Maxine's son, totally stole the show.
Ditto for Wentworth Miller in The Human Stain. In that movie, he acts as great as he looks.
