OMG you *laughed* at Beaches?! I cried so much after coming home from the theatre my parents wouldn't believe it was over a movie and kept asking me if I had a fight with one of my friends.

Back at FT I was wondering about the infamous Sean Penn Mystic River scene until I watched it last night.

COMEDY GOLD!!! The way he yelled "Is that my daughter in there? AAAIIUUGGGGHHHRLLLLAAAH!!!!" I couldn't even go on with the movie because I was laughing too hard. ;D

Yay! One of my favorite threads.

I had an "I know I shouldn't laugh, but..." moment today, when I was watching Se7en on TV. (I've seen it before, I was just bored.) At the end, when Brad Pitt's all distraught and going, "What's in the box? What's in the box?"...just something about the way he said it made me snort a little. Even though I think it's one of his better performances, the whole situation is just so bizzare, and then he busts out sounding like a little kid.

Oh, come on. I laughed at the movie, too. It was so horrible. And the way that stupid "Wind Beneath My Wings" swelled as you saw the funeral cars? Give me a break.

Shit, that's the exact moment that turned my sniveling into embarassing, barely controlled in-theatre sobbing. In my defense I was very young, possibly still a pre-teen. I often cry at cheesy stuff. I cried a lot during fucking Armageddon!!

Word to THAT scene in Mystic River being laughable, though. I cracked up and then looked around the room...everyone else was tearing up and looking at me like I was a monster. *sigh*

I always laugh a little at Mel Gibson no matter what version of himself he's playing. Having said that, the little head nod he does while saying "Am I against taxation without representation? Yes I am" line in The Patriot makes me snort every time. He sounds like a prissy schoolmarm.

I wouldn't exactly say I laugh out loud during this scene, but I find it hard to take seriously: It's in Gone with the Wind when Scarlett goes tumbling down this long staircase. I don't know what it is -- That giant skirt whirling around and around as she rolls down the stairs, the way that, during her fall, she doesn't seem to miss thudding on a single step, or just the fact that it seems to go on forever.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but the movie I'm talking about above is Gone With the Wind. I'm trying to bold it and it just comes up saying "Text." I'll figure it out.

You know those intro to the Kill Bill movies where black and white Uma Thurman is riding in a car giving a monolog? I can't bring myself to watch either movie through to the end so I don't know if it's just a commercial thing, but that makes me laugh every time. In fact, all of whatever of them I've scene has made me laugh so far. That fight with Lucy Liu? Priceless. Every time Uma Thurman speaks? Priceless. I can't believe Tarentino thought she had a shot at an Oscar. Maybe she could have pulled a GG - they have separate actress sections for comedy.

This one might be a gimme, but when I saw Monster's Ball for the first time. I damned near died laughing when Halle Berry went from "I got these curtains on layaway" to her presenting her breast to Billy Bob and growling for him to make her "Feel GUUUDDD! I was embarrased watching this display the first time, but any other time after that I don't see the pain and desperation and pity for the characters, I just see comedy gold. Plus Halle can't act out a good line to save her life.

When I was younger my cousin and I were watching Bound, that movie starring Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon as lesbian lovers and there was something to do with the mob. Anyway, there was supposed to be this really tense erotic moment where they are about to kiss and Tilly breathily says something like "kiss me Corky" and my cousin and I crack up. A lot of it had to do with Tilly's voice. It just all seemed all so silly.
