After the S5 finale, I wondered about Jacob and MiB's American-accented English, and this episode has me wondering even more. Mother and bio-Mother spoke Latin at first, then inexplicably switched to modern American English. What gives with this shit? The writers have never had a problem making us read subtitles, and they are (usually) consistent with languages and accents, so I have to think that there is some significance to it. I think, at least this time, that reading subtitles for an entire episode would've been annoying. But I think more practically the writers or whoever just don't know enough conversational Latin to get it right.

I thought we were supposed to think they were speaking Latin throughout the episode. But because that might have been weird not just for us, but more for the writers and actors, they went with English. I figured they were doing one of those "imagine they're still speaking Latin" switch-overs when the women started in Latin and then they zoomed out and they spoke English. But that's just my personal spin.

Apparently, the MIB was born in the caul (still in the amniotic sac). It is considered good luck and different cultures attach different attributes to the child. These include protection from drowning, ability to see the future, or psychic abilities.

They've done the same thing re: language in at least one Sayid flashback too. They started out in Arabic, and then after a little camera swirly....thing they just switched over to English.

Auction featuring lots of Lost stuff. The two things I want are not available, but it would be Detective Sawyer' mug that says "Hollywood"(very practical) and a Marc Jacobs bag that Kate had. If you could get any prop from Lost what would you want?

If you could get any prop from Lost what would you want? Wow, lots of cool stuff in there! Desmond's backpack and failsafe key? Probably too expensive for me though... I'd love Jacob and MiB's Senet game or Locke and Walt's backgammon board. Any one of the carvings from the Smoke Monster's lair where it appeared to Ben would also be cool. Too many things!!!

I would take some Dharma foodstuffs. I'm thinking of my friends' reaction opening my fridge and seeing Walt's missing photo...
