I hope Brendan Fraser gets an Oscar nomination, but I'm nervous. Somehow, I feel the AMPAS will consider his past movie work too frivolous or too low-common-denominator comedy for them. I heard similar Academy Award nod buzz for Jim Carrey in The Truman Show and Adam Sandler in Uncut Gems, but they got nothing (STILL unfair!). I'll stick with my "hope for the best, expect the worst" mentality about the Academy.*
*The utter gall to have a 28th anniversary tribute (why?) to Pulp Fiction (to give the Best Actor Oscar to Will Smith post-The SlapTM, ugh!) reminded me how that movie didn't win Best Picture in 1995! No Forrest Gump tribute (any movie liked by Newt Gingrich is automatically a black mark in my book)?

From what I'm reading it sounds like it could be Brendan up against Colin Farrell. That would be a tough one for me. I'd love to see Brendan get it purely because of all he's been through. But I think Colin really is past due. And if this new movie and his performance is as good as they say - I'd like to see him get it. It's a conundrum
