And on a totally shallow note, Gretchen has a great body! It's not just that she's thin and toned, she's also got that "youthful" look to it. I can see why they she got chosen to play Gillian, a woman still trying to advertise that the "peaches are still in season."

Gretchen Mol totally plays Gillian as complicated as she is. When the reveals were made about her being Jimmy's mom, then the history of Jimmy's dad and Gillian... I was just cringing but also stuck to the tv screen.

I love the scene where she's whaling on the Commodore after he had a stroke. When she was describing to him the night he raped her, I felt so bad for her.

I was just cringing but also stuck to the tv screen. I think Gillian is a very difficult part to play. She's an evil person who had something evil done to her. Her anger at the Commodore was twofold, she hated him for raping her when she was 13 but she also hated him for not marrying her. I think if the Commodore had married her, when he died (when Jimmy killed him), she would have automatically inherited the house and she wouldn't have needed "fake" Jimmy's body. I think Gretchen Mol gets a lot of flack because she was heralded as some kind of "it" girl, in the 90's. I remember she was all over 'Vanity Fair' as the next big thing, and it kind of never happened. I remember when I first saw her name in the "Boardwalk" credits, I thought, "ugh, I forgot she even existed." But I think she's doing a great job playing Gillian.

Oh, yeah, I remember the It Girl moniker as well. At the time I was all Gretchen Who but hey, she's grown as an actress and BE suits her fine, she plays the hell out of Gillian.

I was hoping Harrow would've been the one to take out Gillian but I guess it's just as well that Tommy doesn't have to have that trauma on top of everything else that's happened. Harrow's takedown of Rosetti's men, especially the last one who was holding Tommy, was fantastic. Will he team up with Nucky? Leaving him as a ronin-type figure could be interesting, though. Does this mean that little Tommy inherits the mansion?
Margaret was barely in this episode but I couldn't stand what little of her there was. So principled about Nucky's money offer but she visited the doctor wearing an outfit that probably cost three months' salary back then. The nice clean abortion would also have been the equivalent of thousands of dollars. Nucky's dollars. Nucky's money was fine when it paid for her daughter's polio treatment and the kids' private schools, too. I think she's supposed to be a noble character but I find her insufferable.

That scene with Harrow was great! And I loved the little detail about Arnold being sold down the river by Nucky and Andrew Mellon. Awesome. I agree about Margaret's nobility being painful in that episode. Generally, I like her character but that last scene with Nucky was stupid. Yeah, right, like she's going to step back to utter poverty after all that time in the lap of luxury - or do that to her children.

Margaret is the Carmella Soprano of this show. She knows what Nucky does, she's outraged by it, but she lacks the courage to actually do something about it. And she enjoys the fruits of his labor too much. She will end up back with Nucky and he knows it. I agree that Gillian is an interesting character, but I will never be a fan of Gretchen Mol. There is just something about her that bugs. I don't think Gillian is dead, either. Did Richard mean to leave Tommy with Julia and her father permanently or just until the Artemis club is cleaned up? So glad Gyp is dead. I enjoyed him when the season started, but by the end he was just too much. Ok, so now that I don't have Owen Sleater to distract me, I am appreciating the handsomeness of Eli Thompson.

I don't think Gillian will go down that easily. I think she'll need an elevator for someone to throw her down.
