Well the new villain is truly creepy & scary. I know the show doesn't follow the comucs much anymore but I spoilered myself and I think the back half of the season might be pretty brutal. It makes me care even less what Negan is getting up to. 😁 Yes to all of this. That last scene was the first one in a long damn time in this show that actually freaked me out a bit. Nice work with the fog machine guys! However, I remain annoyed that we still don’t know what went down during the time skip to make the people at Hilltop afraid of/hate Michonne/Alexandrians and make her so isolationist. I’m guessing the back half of the season will involve all the communities having to come together to fight the new threat. And I still don’t care about Negan.

Both the Governor and Negan should have been single season villains.

Anyone still watching? In the recent episodes with the truly creepy new villain, literally every time it gets exciting they stop and go to the B story, which is Negan aimlessly wandering around, or in the most recent episode, the Kingdom group on a quest for a special light bulb.
I'm not kidding. Don't ever change, you clueless Walking Dead writers! (I know you won't.)

I'm not kidding. Don't ever change, you clueless Walking Dead writers! (I know you won't.) I am! I have to admit, I'm actually really enjoying the most recent episodes (though I can agree with you that they include a lot of dead space and filler). I honestly haven't noticed the absence of Rick or Maggie and the show is actually holding my attention. There are still too many characters all over the place, but it's more interesting than it's been in a long while. ETA: The new villain is really good, but her voice is cracking me up. She's yet another Brit pretending to be a southerner and it sounds like she practiced her accent by watching Gone with the Wind. Also, I'm wondering what the advertising budget is for Lauren Cohan's new show because they are pushing it SO hard. Every TWD commercial break has an ad for it and just now when I looked up the actress who plays Alpha to confirm that she's British, the background is a giant ad for the show. It looks like a big pile of cliched nothing and I'm so sick of the ads.

I will watch TWD until the bitter end which will probably be next season , to be honest. I love the makeup/costume of the zombies. I'm still waiting for Carol and Daryl to ride off into the sunset together. I think Ezekiel dies this season either by Negan or one of the Whisperers.

I enjoyed the episode (2 shows ago?) when the highwaymen got introduced, for the first time I thought the A and B stories both moved forward at a good pace.
The episode revealing how Daryl and Michonne got their scars was OK I guess... not very shocking considering how long they teased it.
This last episode - my listings listed it as an hour but when I FF'ed to the end (yeah I don't care anymore) I could tell the entire end section was missing. So I had to record the full version which was well over an hour when it repeated.
I spoiled myself on the ending and woohoo that sounds like a doozy! Too bad I don't care anymore when people die. I expected a lot, but not that much!!

I expected a lot, but not that much!! I have to admit to multitasking during the Scars episode, so I missed a lot of the significance. It just felt like a bit of a standalone piece of history, though I imagine it was supposed to somehow relate to the rift among communities? I was also a victim of the DVR cutoff, but we were watching it in semi-real time, we just start it late so we can skip past at least 75% of the commercials. We saw Alpha and Lydia in the theater and then the DVR stopped and some other show was on. We were able to catch the last 20 minutes, but it lost a bit of impact to have to fumble around to get there. I feel like they played it a bit safe on the choices for the massacre, but I guess they're running out of main characters and can't afford to kill off any more of them.

The final season starts tonite. Where has 11 years gone? I still remember watching the first episode and couldn’t believe this show was on AMC and not HBO. Feeling nostalgic for Television Without Pity because they always had the best episode discussions.

I thought the premiere was okay, and assumed Maggie would have a Glenn-and-the-dumpster-moment. It was weird how they didn't really show much of it.
The story Maggie told was really creepy.
