AMC's latest series set in a post-zombie apocalypse world. Starring Andrew Lincoln ( Love Actually). The pilot just aired and I thought it was fantastic. A shame that Season One will be so short (just 6 episodes) but I'm eagerly awaiting next week's ep. I thought the zombie makeup was really well done, especially on that half-zombie crawling around in the park. Can't wait to see what happens when Rick meets up with his wife...and her lover/his cop partner. AWKWARD! Poor horsey...

I enjoyed it. The zombies were very creepy. I hope the father and son are recurring characters.

I enjoyed it. The zombies were very creepy. I hope the father and son are recurring characters. His sharpshooting would have attracted a lot of attention and the barricades on their home didn't seem substantial to me. I wouldn't get too attached, if I were you. I'm going to have nightmares tonight. Why did I watch this?! I liked it a lot but why why why do I do these things to myself?

I thought it was really well-done that they showed both the father and son's pain at the wife/mom being a zombie, and that scene where the cop follows that first, legless zombie through the park and just looks at it for awhile before saying, "I'm sorry this happened to you," and shooting it. Actually taking the time to humanize the zombies a bit (not in a fluffy way, but in a "look at the terrible thing that happened to these human beings" way) made everything that much more horrific, and added another dimension to the threat to the protagonists. It doubles the creep factor for me if you're afraid not just of dying horribly, but also of being turned into something repulsive and awful. Usually in zombie movies the zombies are so overdone and monstered-out that that element doesn't really come into play, but I think it's a great one - who isn't a little freaked out by the idea of what happens to our bodies after we die?
When the horse was introduced I was hoping this would be a Dawn-of-the-Dead-remake situation where the zombies only eat human flesh and ignore animals. Needless to say I was disappointed. They weren't torture porn-y about it, but blech.
I presume the cop's wife knew her husband was in the hospital, and his partner obviously did - why would they leave town without him? Did they just assume he was dead because zombies stormed the hospital, or something? I know things get crazy during a zombie apocalypse, but it still struck me a little weird.
My favorite creepy zombie reveal was just the soldier turning his head after the cop sat down beside him. Simple yet so much better than the default "Something jumps out! Music shrieks!" tactic. Also liked the fingers groping through the crack in the hospital doors.

Well, I couldn't figure out why the zombies didn't eat him in the hospital so I guess his wife thought he was dead, too. Maybe the zombies were fooled by the coma?

SUCH a great pilot! I liked the graphic novel well enough (despite really not being a comic book person), and this exceeded my high expectations. I think I'll rewatch it before the second episode airs. Great show.

Poor horsey... I know. That made me so sad. I really liked this pilot and will definitely tune in next week. I initially wasn't going to get involved with another series, but it is Halloween, and this had zombies, and now I'm hooked.

I know things get crazy during a zombie apocalypse... Hee. I want to see this because of Andrew Lincoln but no way will I watch it alone.

I've read the comics and loved them, although they are super depressing. I thought this was pretty wonderful. So tense. The part where Rick was questioning his sanity was especially good. I think waking from a coma and then walking into this kind of situation if you'd have to question whether or not it was real. I'm glad that he went back to kill the half zombie. Sad that it's only six episodes, for some reason I though it was going to be twelve. Shoot.

I mean, during the initial evacuation okay but it's calmed down some so if you loved your husband and friend, wouldn't you try to look for him? Isn't that what people in television do? Maybe this is more realistic. Like, "Peace out dude. You're on your own." I dunno. Rick going back to shoot that zombie made me cry and it made me realize just how fucked everything is. But dude...going into a city during a zombie apocalypse? Not the greatest idea ever. SWC is going to annoy me in this series, I can tell. And I actually liked her in PB.
