I find the way Rick was abandoned at the hospital pretty realistic. If the zombie transformation started with a fever, then the hospital was probably full of people with the virus, and had a morgue full of people who would wake up and turn into zombies. I'd bet that shit got real awfully fast in the hospital and it was total chaos. I'm sure the staff were too busy trying to fight off zombies or helping the mobile patients make an escape or escaping themselves to worry about wheeling out a guy in a coma.
And I'd bet that because of all that, the authorities weren't letting anyone into the hospital, so Lori couldn't get him even if she wanted to. And I'm sure everyone probably assumed that he was dead, like everyone else in the hospital, anyway. It wouldn't exactly be a crazy assumption. Then I'm sure Shane was more than happy to encourage Lori to move on (I don't know if they were screwing around before the zombie outbreak, but I'm pretty sure Shane had a crush on her before things went to pot).

Scary things have never given me nightmares, but wouldn't you know it, I woke up in a cold sweat last night after a dream involving crawling lawn zombie.

Scary things have never given me nightmares That line reminded me of the gut busting impression Kevin Pollak does of Christopher Walken in a radio interview that's on youtube. "Frankenstein never scared me." " Marsupials do." " Because they're fast." If anyone wants a good laugh find the youtube video titled- Walken by Kevin Pollack ( I know it's actually Pollak but the poster spelled it with a C and that will get you the right video. ) And yeah, that zombie in the park was amazing. It probably even surpasses the Tar Man in the basement in Return Of The Living Dead.

It was pretty okay, but I couldn't help draw many, many comparisons to Dawn of the Dead (2004) and 28 Days Later (which they were showing all weekend).
My favorite scares were the soldier waking up in the tank, the horse getting set upon (it should be illegal to put scenes like that in movies), and the mom coming up to the door. I really thought she was going to open the door.
The friend (Shane?) seems to know more than he is letting on. I'm also wondering if the wife and Shane had something going on before the....what the hell is it? Have they mentioned at all what happened to cause the zombies, and how long it took to get the way things are?
The makeup is pretty good, but the cgi is a little obvious. I'll be watching all season. This is right up my alley.

So, this week was not as good as last week even with a few strong scenes, like that opening thrust, ha.
I like Andrew Lincoln, however.
ETA: I also don't fault the wife for abandoning Rick at the hospital, where all the infected were. I think I would prefer that my husband save our children and leave me behind if it came down to it.
Interesting that Rick's wife is keeping her romance on the DL. Their reunion may not be so awkward after all, at least at first glance.

I think they're setting up a love quadrangle with Rick/lady in the store, and Rick's wife and Shane. Definitely not as good as the premiere. And where the hell is Glen headed with a blaring alarm and no ammo? Unfortunately, I think we'll see that racist mutant again. Probably handless, and looking for revenge. That entire scene on the roof made me uncomfortable, and left a really bad taste in my mouth. I know they're going for gritty, and can get away with harsh language, but it was a little too over the top for my liking. Not the N-bombs. Just that the racist/bully act was sooo over the top.

They should just call this episode "I can totally see where this is heading" I think you're right about the love quadrangle and reappearance of the racist douche Babycakes. I'm sure the locket left in the grass will turn up somewhere down the road too.
All the talk of keeping quiet and under the radar and you have a character racing down the highway with a blaring alarm. What's up with that? After the first episode this one felt like a let down, but I'll hang in there and see it through.

How Lori can have sex with Shane just after he has snuck up on her in the woods during a zombie apocalypse is beyond me. I would think this kind of situation of fleeing for your life on a hourly basis would kill anyone's sex drive but maybe it is stress relief I don't know. Also, poor little horse, was so happy in his field, damn that Rick!
As for last night's episode, that was the grossest thing I have ever seen on television, can they show that on cable that isn't HBO?

I think they're setting up a love quadrangle with Rick/lady in the store, and Rick's wife and Shane. I don't remember the characters name but the actress will always be Marita Covarrubias to me, so Marita it is. They were not subtle at all about setting up that quadrangle. I think the make-up people have a lock on the Emmy next year though, some of that stuff was truly disgusting.

All the talk of keeping quiet and under the radar and you have a character racing down the highway with a blaring alarm. What's up with that? I figure that Glen was driving so fast that no zombie could keep up with him anyway. He and his alarm would be out of hearing range relatively quickly. I hope they manage to disable the alarm somehow though once the car stops. Plus, it would be an awesome stress reliever during a zombie apocalypse to be able to drive a sportscar on an open highway at top speeds without any fear of reprisal. I was re-watching Shaun of the Dead over the weekend for the laughs while waiting for this show to start. That movie is awesome.
