I imagine the fact that they left him in the hospital is going to cause some tension when he finally finds his wife.

I loved this, and I am usually repulsed by zombie movies. The pacing was excellent, and some of the moments were genuinely tragic and/or creepy. When the zombie wife was staring through the peephole I nearly wigged out.
Poor, poor horsey.

Damn! I fell asleep after the first half hour and woke up just towards the end. I loved what I saw. I'm going to have to watch it when I get home.

Didn't they say something about how if you were quiet, the zombies would ignore you? Maybe with Rick quiet and still in his comatose state, the zombies just overlooked him.
I really enjoyed this, but man, Rick has some terrible instincts for a cop. He got shot twice mostly because he was standing around in the open and turned his back on the perps, then he heads into Atlanta when there was plenty of evidence that people were trying to get the hell out.
But I did really like the realistic result of shooting a gun inside a tank. That never happens in the movies.

I always seems to me that surviving a zombie apocalypse wouldn't be that tough. Food, water, machine guns, and a tall building. Or as the half-zombie in the premier demonstrated, cut off their legs until you can figure out something better. Some sort of farm equipment could handle that job. Yes, I have given this a lot of thought.

I recorded this last night and I can't wait to watch it! The makeup and effects, from what I've seen, look amazing. I'll definitely be watching this once hubby gets home from work, though. Zombie movies freak me right out and if I watch it alone, I'm going to be shaking in my boots.

I loved it, thought it was very well done. I don't know if it was because of where and when they shot but the beauty of some of those tree lined streets felt strange, beautiful and disturbing all at the same time, like the natural world was lush and alive while all the people were dead.
Also loved the end when he was in Atlanta and turned that corner and ran into a crowd of protesting tea party members, then one called him a socialist Obama lover and they chased him under a tank and ate his horse.

It wouldn't be too hard for him to pull this off, he could just say he has inside police info on what went down at the hospital, then convince her to pack up and get out of town with him for safety's sake.

Yes, I have given this a lot of thought. I too have given a fair amount of thought in surviving a zombie apocalypse and agree that it would be easier than say, surviving the attack by Skynet (of Terminator fame). Is it wrong that my first thought of zombies destroying society would be that I no longer owed the credit card companies any money?

I liked this a lot too. Not familiar with the comic but I look forward to more episodes. If the sheriff can get out of the tank alive, he can do just about anything.
I think he was totally abandoned in his coma. Even he wasn't dead, he was as good as dead. In a panicked situation, I could see his wife grabbing his kid and running, even if she wasn't sure what happened to him. If zombies were killing perfectly healthy people, what was she going to do with an unconscious husband somewhere? I liked a lot of the little touches: him coming out of his coma totally babbling, him doubting his sanity--very realistic to me.
I also hope dad & Wayne are back on, although I thought the zombie shooting was a suicide mission; noise attracts them and as someone else noted, the house wasn't that fortified.
