Feeling "triggered" is almost always employed by people making a huge deal out of nothing, who are under the misconception that they have the right to go through life never so much as seeing anything that they personally dislike. Maybe I reddit too much, but I honestly haven't heard a non-mocking use of the word "triggered" in the last 5 years (as in "oh sorry that TRIGGERED you, snowflake!"). That said, Demi needs to get herself in line instead of attacking small businesses. Jameela Jamil jumping in with every buzzword to defend against the oppression of small business froyo shops was even more obnoxious.

Maybe I reddit too much, but I honestly haven't heard a non-mocking use of the word "triggered" in the last 5 years (as in "oh sorry that TRIGGERED you, snowflake!"). I see non-ironic Trigger Warnings all the time! I recently saw a virtual one-man show put on by the DC Shakespeare Theatre about Shakespeare's villains and the actor gave an official Trigger Warning before a reminder that Shakespeare's portrayal of Shylock in The Merchant of Venice includes offensive stereotypes that are no longer acceptable by today's standards. And again before portraying Iago he had to tell us that Shakespeare's language and portrayals of people of color in the play Othello are problematic. He gave some version of the little "what you are about to see is going to be offensive" speech at least 3 or 4 times throughout the show, even though the actual speeches he performed were nothing sensitive. Because apparently people buying a ticket to a show that clearly advertised its 16th-century content require periodic soothing and guidance every 15 minutes in order to not be overwhelmed with unexpected emotions caused by listening to a Shakespeare soliloquy.

This is all so ridiculous. I can't even...
And I agree with Ginger. I see "triggered" used with seriousness quite a bit. *sigh*

I've always thought of froyo as diet food, personally. I think Demi sounds like she needs to talk to a counselor for a while, and Jamilla just needs to go away.

Whenever I see frozen yogurt advertised as healthy I think of the Seinfeld froyo episode.

It has come to my attention that Demi likely freaked out over seeing Lenny & Larry cookies. I wouldn’t call them a “diet” cookie. They do have a decent amount of fiber and protein but the calorie count is along the lines of your average protein bar. I’ve had these for breakfast on the go. She put out a “Sorry you guys misconstrued my words,” video and, apparently, sugar free things were her safe foods when she was engaging in her disordered eating. Having foods that are considered safe to eat is a common behavior for people that have an eating disorder. However, safe foods vary from person to person. For Demi it was sugar free treats. For others it is fruit. This is why Demi’s demands for restaurants to provide a safe space for people with eating disorder by not serving trigger foods is not possible. Maybe I’m being harsh but this feels like she knows she has problems but doesn’t want to do the work to learn how to manage them. She would rather cater to her whims. I have a feeling this is why she struggles to maintain relationships. She sounds like she's lacking the understanding that not everything she thinks is universal. I remember when I was struggling with disordered eating, I was a waitress and I truly could not see beyond my own hang-ups, so I kept unconsciously trying to influence people's choices. Like, our salads came with cheese on them and EVERY.SINGLE.TIME, I would rush to assure people that we could leave the cheese off and I was always genuinely surprised when someone didn't want me to do that and if they said they'd take extra cheese, I'd nearly fall over in shock. It's very embarrassing to remember that and I'm so thankful I didn't have a wide public forum to express my views. But she often comes across as abrasive and confrontational so it doesn't surprise me that she made the leap from "hmmm, this makes me feel a certain way" to "I feel attacked!!!" and lashed out. I hope the yogurt shop got a boost in business from the attention instead of the public shaming she was trying to dish out.

I think everyone just needs calm down—I mean, Demi said specifically she’s ‘willing to work’ with the shop to ‘get the marketing right.’ Thats noble AF! She’s literally going to help them ‘do better’! #blessed

I feel kind of sorry for Demi, she clearly needs some help coping with her issues. However, the fact that she's all over this small shop like it's dealing crack out the back doesn't sit well with me.

I certainly hope she never eats at a Cracker Barrel. Those ceramic packet holders contain sugar AND brown sugar AND Sugar Twin AND Equal AND Splenda.
No stevia, though. It’s a safe space for those oppressed by stevia.
