Well, TPTB are making sure we know that Pia was nowhere near the leaders.. so so what if she's gone! Apparently there are four people who are always near the top, and Pia was never one of them. Scotty, Pageant, Jacob? Good Lord, don't tell me it's Growling Growlerson.

Casey actually did get the least amount of votes one week but maybe that was an aberration. The only ones left who haven't been in the bottom three are Scotty, Lauren and James. I think Jacob's trip last week might have been entirely due to his comment that if he ended up in the bottom three, it wasn't because of how he sang, but because people couldn't look themselves in the mirror.

What was that song Casey sang, and what movie was it from? I didn't recognize it at all. (I missed the performance because of Survivor.)
I really don't get Jason. Over sung and under whelming.

What was that song Casey sang, and what movie was it from? I didn't recognize it at all. (I missed the performance because of Survivor.) "Nature Boy" by Nat King Cole. I recognized it from Moulin Rouge, but it's been featured in several films. I thought Casey did well, but he might have made a huge mistake in not going with "In the Air Tonight." I thought it was a real turn-off to see so many of the contestants dismissing the producers' advice. They're developing quite the little egos, aren't they? And "artistes" Casey and Haley probably make a perfect couple.

I liked Casey's Nature Boy, although I thought it ended much better than it started. If he had done In The Air Tonight it might have suffered in comparison to Phil Collins, with whom it is so identified.
Scotty's first song choice was much nicer, I almost wish they hadn't shown him singing it, because I really did not like the one he ended up singing.
Jacob might be a nice guy, but I dislike his voice and personality. And I don't get Haley at all.

I don't know, I kind of really like them trying to stick to their own style - whether it's teen girl popular or not. I kind of hate Jimmy at this point. Not only is he an arrogant blowhard, but the arrangements this year have been awful (hello Stefano singing Stevie with a disco beat). The advice from him has been less than helpful. He keeps trying to make Stefano a boy bander, when his best performance was the gospel song he did to get himself into the finals. I know Jacob the Queen has cornered the market on gospel, but I think he's doing it sort of badly.
I love jazz, so I was really diggin' Casey. He'll probably get canned tonight for it, but it's way more interesting than a boring 80's pop song. That's just who he is, and I think he's terrible when he tries to conform and sing stupid pop crap in a boring way. I'd take a million Caseys over one note Scotty or Pageant Baby who can't go deeper than Miley Cyrus.
I think Haley and Paul need to ride off into the "Idols never heard from again" sunset.

Paul is like the old SNL skit: "The Thing That Wouldn't Leave." Each week he gets worse and worse, yet his fan base keeps him around. I don't get it.
ITA that Scotty wussed out on singing "Everybody's Talking," but at this stage of the competition, he could sing "Old McDonald" sitting on a stool wearing a chicken suit and his fan base would still vote for him.
margojata, I thought Casey was at least daring to pull off "Nature Boy," but I don't think a lot of viewers got it, and it wouldn't surprise me if he went home this evening as well.
Why did Little Miss Princess Suddeth choose a song tailored for Miley Cyrus's singing voice? She could have chosen a better song. Hell, choose "A Dream That You Wish" from Cinderella, which may have been a more appropriate song choice instead of that one.
I'm not even going there with Haley the Happy Hooker, Straining Stefano and Church Lady Jacob. The less said, the better.

As I said in my original post, I LIKED Casey's performance (and I don't even like jazz), but I just don't think it was a smart move. He can say he's all about the art all he wants, but fact of the matter is, he's competing on American Idol, and he shouldn't be there if he's not trying to win. He can go back to what he was doing before Idol if it's not that important to him. The point is to win votes while expressing yourself (I'd say 25% self-expression to 75% public appeal), not to just get out there and do whatever you want, public be damned. And the mentors get on my nerves, too, but the kids could at least pretend to be considering their advice, rather than all-out defying them. It's way too early in the game for that shit.
I really think that Casey is going to be in the bottom three tonight and possibly even going home. Which is stupid, because it should not be him. But they told him! I'd much rather see Haley, who is way past her expiration date, or Paul, go home. Paul's schtick has gotten really, really old, but I guess what he's doing is working for someone out there.

I wonder if the classic Disney songbook is available to AI contestants--Disney's affiliated with ABC.

Also, the Disney Hollywood Studios park has an American Idol experience thing, so they must be affiliated in some way or another.
