I so agree. I know Kelly's been pro for a long time now, but she's just really a cut above everyone else in terms of vocal chops. I also like how she just seemed to be having a good time singing, darn it.
Loved both Scotty and Lauren and Haley and Casey's duets. Again, a cut way, way above "the band" (of which I heard about three opening bars and promptly proceeded to fast forward through most of the way.)

I really like Lauren's singing with Scotty. On her own, there's been something missing, like a lack of confidence or tentativeness that's come over her since Hollywood. It's not a good season of AI until the mugshots start getting unearthed. Talk about a judge's save! Given that results show segment where the Idols got to hang out at the TMZ office, what do you want to bet TPTB are behind the timing of this leak?

Um, the 21st century? So sure, "go ahead and sing whatever the hell you want" night.
I kinda hated everybody (again). Trying to play it back in my mind, I can't think of one person I enjoyed. I wanted to like James because I love that song, but that f'ing screeching gets on my last nerve. Especially the way he would scream and then sound normal, scream and then sound normal.
Stefano is probably toast. But really, is anyone a "winner"? Scotty and his smugity smug Howdy Doody face is now incredibly obnoxious.

Yeah, and the fact that he did it all totally off-pitch didn't help. The total tongue bath they gave that Lauren person was so WTF?? She's the chosen person this year, clearly. But why?

I think Stefano's stays of executions are exhausted and he should be sent home. It's sad because he seems to be a nice guy height notwithstanding. He's just not an "idol" so to speak. I would've criticized Scotty too for picking a song that was popular in the 1980s by John Anderson instead of LeAnn Rimes's version. Hell, he could burp, fart, and sneeze the lyrics of that song and his fans will vote for him.
I think TPTB are so desperate for a female winner that they are milking Lauren to the max, but I truly think she never recovered from that slight critique they gave her the first night of the Top 13. Her confidence went downhill after that. Plus, I'm sorry to say this, she's still a bit too young. She's been used to people (*cough*mom*cough*) telling her how great and terrific she is, but when she is criticized, it's as if you took away her Facebook privileges. Perhaps if she had a bit of Haley's moxie, she may have a shot of challenging Scotty McCornyCountry.
I'm surprised no one has commented on the opening number with the female rejects and Paul. It sounded OK until he started singing and when they all sang together, it sounded like cats fighting in a closet. Also, watching Mark Ballas in the audience and interviewing him later on was completely unnecessary. We get it. You're schtupping Pia. Get over yourself.

The opening number was sooo bad, I think I'd blocked it out of my mind until you just reminded me of it. It's all coming back now...aaaaaah!
Sad, Lauren has the best chance of winning and probably the most solid "instrument" of the group but yeah, she's snakebit. It's plain old weird.
Anybody else moseying on over to NBC tonight (I think it's tonight, or maybe it's next week? to check out The Voice?

I'm curious, but if it's going to be a bunch of rejects from other talent shows, my interest will wane. It should be interesting though.

Seems like someone behind the scenes rapped the judges' knuckles; they lobbed a bit of criticism towards these overpraised singers for a refreshing change.
What in holy hell was Randy thinking when he encouraged Jacob to caterwaul it up next week? Lauren's singing voice has a lovely quality, but there just doesn't seem to be any neurons firing between those ears. I'm ready to see either go, so of course they won't.

I HATE Stephano's pronunciation while singing. What the hell is that? I would say he's trying to sound R&B or urban or something, but I don't think R&B singers pronounce their words like that. It has just been driving me up the wall.

Stephano seems so amateur-ish. His whole head tilted back eyes almost close drives me up the wall. Not sorry to see him go...
