I switched over half-way through last night to watch the repeat showing of The Voice. Didn't miss AI one bit. I think The Voice is going to give AI some stiff competition.

What did Haley say that was bleeped? I can't stand Jimmy Whogivesafuck, so seeing her cuss him out on national television would have been fine - IF she wasn't a nobody who will disappear into obscurity.
Oh Casey. I was so feeling him when he said he loved Oscar Peterson! I think he just needs some time and training and ... he'll be playing obscure jazz clubs. Ahh, well.

I've been enjoying the season, more or less. I haven't watched for a couple of years (I think I saw the beginning of last season, but I lost interest), so maybe the break helps. It's really easy to burn out on AI.
I was sure the final four were going to be Casey, Scotty, Lauren, and James, but eh. Casey's time was always going to be limited, even with the save. He's never going to be a money-making pop star, which is what they're trying to find. I did like him when he did more jazzy numbers, but I'm guessing most people don't watch AI to see jazz.
Lauren is probably their best be at this point. I feel bad for her because she's 16 and working out her issues on national TV, but if they can get her past that, she's definitely the most marketable.

Next week's theme is Then & Now. One song from today and one from the sixties, because the classics rarely get any love on Idol.

I must be getting old, because I didn't recognize a single one of the "now" songs. However, I over recognized the "then" songs. "Without You"? "Unchained Melody"? Really?
I'm not really invested in any of them, though I don't like Jacob's OVERsinging, but this could really go any way. I'll say Lauren goes next. Shrug.

Well, I got through that in record time. The judges are completely useless. I do think it's funny that Steven listens first to the others before he's critical. And then he still calls everything, "A beautiful thing". Randy shouts that everyone is "In it to win it", and if he is critical, JLO will butt her gigantic head of hair into it.
I still like NO ONE. This is a record for me. I was able to latch onto someone in even the most dismal of seasons. So I guess I'm kinda cheering for James (although Jimmy the Asshole screwed him with that horrendous rendition of Without You). He seems to need some sort of a future path a lot more than the homecoming king and queen - Scotty and Lauren. They seem just fine in life.

Here's hoping the the rest of America also saw through the shameless manipulation of the judgtes in trying to get rid of Haley...no matter what.
And backlash ensues with record voting for her. Seriously, to not say a thing about the dreadful first performances by James and Jacob and then give her grief about song choice was sooooo transparent. Fortunately, you could tell it just made her mad...and more determined to nail her next song.

So let me get this straight, they essentially give Jacob a pass on his horrible first song, then crack on Haley's first song, which sounded ten times better? They are so useless. And I don't even like her.
So it's pretty much between Scotty and James for the finale, short of some voting calamity, right?

This show is done. The Voice is the new IT singing competition and with X Factor coming, AI's clock is ticking.

Is The Voice actually getting ratings comparable to AI's? Just wondering. I tried watching The Voice a couple of times, and personally I prefer AI. But I will definitely be watching X Factor.
