The long national nightmare is over and Jacob is finally going home, yet he gave his best performance on the way out the door. If he had sang this way all of the time, he may have stayed longer.
Lauren looked like a 46-year-old woman tonight (hopefully, I am not insulting any 46-year-olds in here), but her reaction is totally adolescent. She doesn't take adversity well.

A tip to the 2 year old pageant princess - a big sparkly skirt never works on big hips (especially when paired over leggings)!
Sheesh, she really is WAY too young for this business. While all the others were gettin' into Jacob's swan song (that he hilariously wouldn't end!), Lauren was still sobbing about herself. She did look incredibly old with that hair and makeup (streaming down her face).
I gained a new respect for Howdy Doody (complete with a plaid shirt last night) when he refused to play Ryan The Tool's game of "Pick the winners!". And he was genuinely appreciating Jacob at the end and not fixated on himself (see above rant about Princess Giant Hips). They all were, except said Princess.

All these people will count themselves lucky if they can get Lee DeWyze album numbers. None of them are stars.

I think Scotty might be big in country. Didn't Josh Gracin have a country career? And Bucky F'ing Covington? Scotty may be a superstar if that's where the bar is set.

Scotty has the best prospects of any of them. Nashville marketers stay up all night looking for his all-American country boy qualities paired with an actually terrific singing voice. Once he's able to sing good songs written for him instead of Idol set lists of oldies, he'll be fine.

Lauren is a Britney trainwreck waiting to happen. She's been pushed out front by her parents and told how talented and adorable she is, and this is probably the first time in her life that she's ever been exposed to any criticism at all--"But, Momma says ah'm PERFECT! Ah don't WANNA sing that song that way! Y'all quit tellin' me what to do--y'all are MEAN!"
The Autism Speaks FB net has turned into a James Durbin voting bloc on Wednesday nights. Knowing what that kid has had to overcome (and still struggles with) and hearing that voice has made me root a little harder for him than for the others.

The best case scenario would be a James/Haley final two (no offense, Scotty).
As for princess Lauren, I don't understand why her mother decided to drop the surname. What's wrong with the last name Sudduth? There are two actors working today with the same last name. Also, isn't her father an Iraq War veteran? I would've kept the last name because of this to honor him. But then again, he practically has no say in Mama Rose Sudduth's grand plan for superstardom.
What Mama Rose Sudduth should've done was drop Lauren Sudduth altogether and use her middle name as her stage name: Alaina. To me, it's more memorable that the first and middle names together.

I still don't like Haley. I know that she has improved, but her voice grates on me SO much. And she is insufferably smug. I will be happy with anyone other than her in the finale.
I agree that Scotty will have the best career out of these folks. There aren't a lot of great male singers in country music right now, mostly just nasally dudes singing about getting girls drunk and wishing they were 17 again, so a nice wholesome boy with a good voice who actually is 17 would be quite a change. He might end up being the male Taylor Swift without quite as much pop crossover appeal. I think that Lauren will do well too if she goes the country route.
James, I'm not sure about. Sure he's getting praised up and down on the show, but who knows if he'll actually sell records. I think the closest contestant in recent years he could be compared to is Adam Lambert, who has only had one hit single, really. And Adam got way more attention than James has.

The next theme is Songs Popular When Scotty's Grandma Was Born Leiber & Stoller. Some classic songs, but seriously, what's next, ragtime?
