Well, you warned me, but, yeah, the rage I feel after reading that. Oh, the whole thing is you were just "an asshole," and these women, who could've just been "happy to be with" saw it as an imbalance of power? Also, dropping the whole "boo hoo, cancel culture and the woke mob don't allow for rehabilitation." God, fuck him.
Worst thing is, as the picture Variety used for the story states (that had to be an intentional choice), he's a white man, so this redemption tour will probably work.

Yeah, no, Arnie. You being abused as a teenager is not an excuse for committing multiple sexual assaults, and saying you were an asshole is a defense that lacks gravitas, to say the least.

Assuming for the sake of his argument that this is true, it would only ever be an *explanation* for part of his abuse (cycle of abuse) but never an excuse. Abused kids who go on to abuse other kids or grow up to be adults who abuse kids are still held responsible for their own crimes. Even some of the child brides of Warren Jeffs who held down other child brides for him to rape as he had raped them before.
If they saw you has having all the power it is because you deliberately picked women/girls who felt they were powerless against a billionheir (notice he specifically talked in his texts about not being able to do this stuff with his rich wife) and made sure they knew it rather than putting their minds at rest he was a deliberate asshole. He assaulted women because he wanted to and he could. He could have had plenty of consensual extra marital sex if he had wanted, he could even have gone to people/places where he could have explored his kinks safely and got the best therapists money could by to live in with him if he needed but he apparently chose not to do that.
It might work but the public wasn't really sold on Hammer before all this stuff (10 years of trying to make Armie Hammer happen) and he wasn't that bankable so I don't see him suddenly getting decent roles again. Plus I think the cannibal fantasy stuff skeeves a lot of people out more than straight up rape claims sad to say.

Interview with his ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers. On being locked up with him in the Cayman Islands during the pandemic, when the marriage ended: On finding out her ex was abusing women and had a disturbing fetish: She seems to be doing better and has a 26-year-old triathlete boyfriend in the Caymans. She wishes the best for Armie.

I only read those interview excerpts in the post above (not the whole interview), but there’s a lot of cognitive dissonance in Chambers saying she was listening to horrific stories of abuse from Hammer’s victims but he’s good with their kids. I mean, I get that parents generally don’t lose custody unless they are directly abusing their kids so she probably doesn’t have a ton of choice, but how as a parent do you ever feel comfortable leaving the kids alone with someone who is so (allegedly) twisted? Maybe, since he apparently always left at first opportunity, he doesn’t spend much time with them, but damn.

I follow her on IG and while not every second of their lives is documented, she puts her kids on there a lot. They're busy kids and have a large circle of friends and people in their lives. She did not get into details of his contact with them, but there could also be conditions on it like maybe he has supervised visitation, or they stay with his parents (who are still in the Caymans I think) on his visitation weekends. I think she's trying to put a better spin on it but he does not appear to be a very involved parent.

I'm glad he may have limited or supervised child visitation. Remember the creepy video where his let his son suck his toes? Great, now I feel unclean again...
