Of course, now I have to figure out which channel AMC is on. This looks really good.

Just finishing watching it. I really enjoyed it. It moved along at a good pace, especially for the first two episodes of a new series. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the season. I also like that the season works as a stand-alone, so you know there will be resolution at the end.

The first episode was great, it was just so incredibly tense waiting for them to find the body. And the scene where the parents found out was amazing. I thought the second episode was a little slower. I am not sure what I think of Linden's partner/replacement Holder. I get that he is supposed to be a jerk but I find him really off putting. That scene with him and the two girls at the soccer field was so skeevy. My early prediction for the killer? The teacher.

Between this show and "Durham County", Canada sure has cornered the market on moody, atmospheric, poetic crime mysteries.

I was a little thrown by the cop offering the kids a joint but then I figured he was just trying to buddy buddy up to them so that they'd open up - and they did. He does seem to be far less by the book than the lead detective. I don't think I've seen the actress who plays the cop - Sarah? - in anything else but she was great.
I do love the way it is shot. I am sucker for moody atmospheric pieces.
Funny bronze I was thinking the same thing about the teacher. Don't know why except for now he seems an unlikely suspect so maybe that is why I am picking on him.

The first hour was a bit slow with the "Where's Rosie? She's here! No she's not!" stuff. The show is called "The Killing". I don't think anyone actually expected Rosie to be alive. Fortunately, things picked up during the second hour.
Rosie's family were just breaking my heart! Rosie's parents are trying to be strong for the sake of the boys, both who clearly adored Rosie, and one boy is just angry and the other is confused. I already have an emotional connection to this storyline thanks to the performances of the actors.
I kinda wanted to shake the sister when she asked Rosie's mom why didn't call Rosie over the weekend. Yeah, lady just rub it in! I'm sure Rosie's mom hasn't been thinking, "OMG! Why didn't I call?!" since she learned Rosie was missing! I understand why Rosie's mom didn't call. She thought Rosie was at a friend's house. Plus, there's no guarantee calling Rosie over the weekend would have prevented her death. The medical examiner could only determine she died sometime over the weekend. So, if Rosie had been killed Sunday night all the phone calls in the world wouldn't have saved her.
I've seen some complaints that Sarah is a bit cold. I don't think she's cold. I think she's a professional and yee gawds it's nice to see a cop on tv actually behave in a professional manner! Olivia and Elliot would have made this case all about them within 10 minutes of Rosie's disappearance being reported!
So far I don't care about the political storyline. It's a shame because I do like Billy Campbell. Maybe it will get more interesting as the show goes along.
Yeah, he was acting in a suspicious manner. He's a definite possibility. I'm going to go ahead rule out the ex boyfriend and Billy Campbell since they are too obvious. I think they are both guilty of doing something bad but not killing Rosie. The guy working for Billy Campbell's campaign is another strong possibility in my mind. He's awfully skeevy and he had access to the campaign cars.
TC time. When Sarah's fiancee was introduced I kept expecting to start going on about God and Sarah having a special destiny. What can I say? Callum Keith Rennie will always be that sneaky cylon Leoben Conoy to me!

As we were watching, we kept playing "spot the character actor." Let's see, we have Big Love, Battlestar Galactica, Lost, True Blood, and Mad Men represented. Any that I'm missing?

Well, there are some shades of Twin Peaks with the high school stuff, the necklace being a key, and the way Rosie's mother heard about her death was exactly the same way Laura Palmer's mother found out.
Interesting, and it grabbed me enough that I'll check it out again. I really like the lead, though her partner still seems a bit sketch to me. I'm sure it's mostly his appearance, but, well, I can see how he may have done well in narcotics because he'd totally blend in with a bunch of meth-heads.

As american remakes of foreign shows go it's not bad. They are following the original quite closely, even using the exact same music but they've changed things enough to make it interesting on it's own. The American/Canadian actors are all solid but man, the original Danish actors are fantastic. The only one so far who might top the Danish counterpart is the new cop replacing her, he's very different from the Danish version and the way he discovered the party room was a more interesting scene than in the original.
If they keep following the original then you can look forward to some pretty tense shows that keep taking you down a different path in the last few minutes and make you want to see the next episode immediately.

Just finished watching Forbrydelsen's first episode and, man, this stateside version is practically a shot-by-shot copy.
